Homebrew 3ds 11.5 should i update?

i also have a r4 gold rts flashcart... dont know if that can be used to get homebrew for 3ds

You should follow this guide. This will install B9S, CFW and update your console to 11.6.

You'll need a compatible DS flashcart and a magnet that the guide will inform you about.

If it's one of the ones pictured in the guide it will work, now you just need a magnet and to follow the guide and put the files in their rightful places.

If that's the r4ids.cn one then you're in luck, it can be used for ntrboot.

if i am correct notehax and the flashcart exploit are the only two methods of hacking the 3ds.. (here is the link i found for note hax) hax i assume i should do the flashcart update for the 3ds instead though

Notehax won't be able to give you CFW, only userland homebrew just like all the other entrypoints. And you have to have the game already downloaded, as there is now an update that patches it.

wow i did not think u would need a magnet... But according to the guide and also just from confirmation the flashcart cannot use its standard functions while ntrboot exploit is installed. they said u can remove it though when ur done. my question is do u need to keep the exploit working on the flashcart to use cfw or homebrew. or can u delete the exploit from the flashcart and use homebrew with out it (allowing me to also use the flashcarts regular functions as well)

Once you have CFW installed, you can remove ntrboot.
