3DS 11.4 Firmware Update Available

0hnqi7q.png

Just today, Nintendo 3DS firmware 11.4.0-37 has been released. I saw no other posts on this so far, so I am posting it. Here is what I found so far has been either temporarily or permanently broken/patched.

BootNTR Selector: Working with latest version (2.7.3)

UDSploit: Patched

Soundhax: Patched (Finally Nintendo... Lmao)

Safehax: Doesn't work without UDSploit, so therefore broken.

11.4.0-37 fixes the slowdown bug for some games like OOT3D that 11.3.0-36 has introduced. Confirmed by @Feffe

Please let me know if anything else got patched. Yes, of course, if you have A9LH+Luma3DS, you can safely update.

Noob question NTRselector?
NTR Selector is a CIA that lets you choose which NTR version to use. It's pretty widely accepted as the best/easiest way to use it. You can find it in FBI, just look it up in the "Title DB" section, using "Boot NTR Selector" if you're on N3DS/N3DS XL or use "Boot NTR Selector Mode 3" if you're using O3DS/O3DS XL (it fixes a boot issue). NTR CFW isn't really a CFW, it's just something you need CFW to run. Very useful, lets you run cheats, stream on N3DS to internet/pc, lets you adjust CPU speed and cache on N3DS so you can play O3DS games with higher CPU speeds, and has things like Blue Light Reduction. Very useful, whether you're new to CFW or a pro
I wasn't paying attention to it when I watched it. I missed the "new" part. It's a stupid name. :P
Maybe a bit silly, but what are they going to call it? The "NooDS" or something? Yeah. Right. The whole thing is a bit of a strange product launched at a strange time. Gameboy Micro spiritual successor anybody? We all remember that flop. I mean really, what's the difference between the two? Lower cost materials most likely. Hell, the 2DS only had one big screen instead of two because it was cheaper. Who knows what corners they cut on this thing.

I meant the whole "new" Nintendo 3DS/2DS business. It would have been better as Nintendo 3DS DX or Nintendo 3DS 2 or whatever. Half the time I think new as in it's not used instead of "new". It was a stupid name choice. I'm hoping they totally cheaped out and left all the hax alone. Hopefully devs have some hax that gets patched on 11.5/12.0 that we can use to hax it when N2DSXL comes with 11.4. I'm hoping they really cheaped out and it comes with 11.3.

Correct-o-mundo. Run 3.4 as it's the most updated one. And if you need to update it, hold X when going into the CIA. To interact with settings, press X+Y any time.

Thanks. That's now installed. Now just waiting for a double verification before I update to 11.4

I verified myself, nobody responded so I did some digging. Final verdict is here. You should be able to update, but if you do it breaks httpwn which means you'll need to be updated to go online from now on. If you don't use Pokemon Bank, Pokemon Sun/Moon, Pokemon Shuffle, etc...you should be fine...but honestly? There's no real reason to update right now. The only thing it fixes is the OoT3D slowdown, which I think the lastest Luma update fixes too. So really, no real reason. I wish I didn't update to be honest. I'll survive, but it's not the easiest thing to do. I might go back to 11.2 after I back up my saves and re-inject them. That's always an option if you make NAND backups. I suggest use Save Data Filer if that's in your plans.

Well that's weird, I don't suppose your "friend" updated luma to 7.0 or higher? Because that would've avoided this whole thing. If not, someone please let them know how to install 7.0 on an SD card. I would but I don't trust myself. And hey, if you did it yourself, it's ok to say "I f***ed up". We're all friends here :yay3ds:

Does he use emunand and updated sysnand?
If he really have a9lh and luma, this is the only explanation to what happened (maybe?).

Luma only half fixed the OoT3D slowdown and that fix was removed before 7.0 was released as apparently it was causing problems elsewhere. If you need 11.2 for some reason, why not create an 11.2 emunand and then unlink it with tinyformat? Or even backup your ticket/title.db (I forget which one), restore the 11.2 nand backup, and then immediately re-inject your ticket/title.db that you extracted from your current sysnand?

I have absolutely zero idea of how to set up an 11.2 emunand, and understand mildly about the ticket db but, I don't understand how to do any of that. Hopefully NTR streaming gets fixed, because then I don't have to worry about it.

I'm installing A9lh onto an old 3DS as I'm giving it to a family member.

I'm using the 3ds.guide site and am at the section where I've installed A9LH and have put it on 9.2.

The guide says to just perform a system update from here, which would put it on 11.4, but is this safe? Just want to check as I'm not sure.

  • Updates while using A9LH + Luma (what you have) are safe

From what I've been told all you will lose is NTR streaming.

You forgot httpwn, apparently you lose that, which is quite a thing to lose. Without it, you'll have to update your system to get online again when 11.5/12.0 comes out.
