I've floated in and out of this thread to check the status and guiniea pig's answers and the best advice has already been said. Stop panicing and just be patient! Haven't most of you learned what patience is from this whole project? You all should've known that Nintendo was going to try and rebel in some way to its constant hacking. Someone said, and I don't remember who it was... but the more they do the smarter the hacker gets. Just like the old saying, what don't kill the Wii only makes the hacked Wii stranger?! (STRONGER) At this point, I don't see anything getting in the way to what is about to happen once cSM and BootMii are released and running on everyone who cares to keep their homebrew and wads intact.

So let's just wait and not be hasty for one of our friendly coders to work the MAGIC.

Jesus!

Do you think any shipped wiis have this update?

I'm trying my hardest to get money to buy one before 3.3 or 3.4 are preinstalled.

Can anyone confirm for me if shipped wiis have either updates preinstalled?

I would say no they do not.

wait so even if you use homebrew to copy the save to the wii, the system menu prevents twilight princess from starting with the hacked save?
can you start the game using geckoos and launch the tp hack that way? if you can, try to see if hbc beta 9 still installs, even if this defeats the purpose of it in the first place.
at least we will know that it is still possible to install the hbc once the menu has been hacked (or a more clever save file is developed).

so now instead of buying animal crossing i will have to download the iso and play it with the backup loader? looks like Nintendo has too much money that they don't want mine anymore...

3.3, although hardly ideal, is easily downgradeable so dont worry if you get one.

Well said mate, the best post in 25 pages. BootMii as far as I understand it can't be disabled with a firmware update, and cSM when it's finished will check the author's server (sorry, can't remember who that is!) for updates instead of Nintendo's server much in the same way as DarkAlex has done with his PSP custom firmware. Just don't update, it's not really complicated

Say for instance you buy one of these 3.4 updated Wii.... Are you really screwed as far a a twilight hack...or adding homebrew channel/ Some type of workaround maybe..... And if not how do you block Nintendo's (no permission) update? Seems as soon as you connect your wii to wifi you can get jammed Nintendo. Am I wrong....in my thinking here.... Haven't bought one yet but I want too....so badly but I'm a broke wanker. Should or can 3.4 be downgraded? Is there any stock numbers to check for firmware levels kinda like you can check for a TA82 board on a PSP.

Animal Crossing has 3.3v1, so that's not a good excuse.

3.3, although hardly ideal, is easily downgradeable so dont worry if you get one.

Mind giving me the link to some downgrader or something?

Give it some time man its barely been out 24 hours.

totally right.
im 102% positive, ingenious masterminds running this show will indeed have a step by step in solving this problem.
but for now, this sounds like bad news.
the wii is nothing without the HBC channel.
let alone there is a chnace that it could ruin your modchip.
just hide your wii in the shadows for now.

Once you actually have your wii, look me up

im not sure if this these exact questions have been asked. Ive read through all 25 pages of this thread and i still have a couple unanswered (ive looked and looked) questions. I understand that the TH wont work any longer once the update is installed. I also understand that the update deletes hacked game saves and that the only auto update without users consent is only on v3.4. I hear the update also deletes a certain CIOS if it finds it but i dont think it looks for the CIOS that the loaders use, still, these are my questions:

If you have the homebrew channel installed already and a loader channel installed, when u run the 3.4 update 1) will the loaders still work? 2) will apps still run in the homebrew channel? 3) if the loader channels dont work can u load the iso with a loader using the homebrew channel?

also, ive heard there is a 3.4 update on animal crossing. is there a way to play that game and any others with updates without updating? When i buy this game would i have to update reqgardless?

If these questions have been answered already please direct to the right reply or if these answers are in another thread please let me know.
