Need a lil help. I bought a 2DS with the Capture Card and it came with Ver. 6.0.0-12U. Great right!?

Thing is(And Im being honest) I dont care about homebrew cuz I have a powerful enough PC to handle any Emulator all I want is to play games AND what I want the most is to be able to Extract the Save of my OmegaRuby(Retail Game) and edit it in PKHex and put it back on the game.

But since almost everyone here would kill for a Gateway/CFW Compatible 3DS I have been literaly thinking all day if I should update and go with Sky3DS+ or Not Update and go with CFW/Gateway.

Its worth it? I mean having to deal with all the hasle of Nintendo Updates, risk of bricking, etc If all I just want to use of Homebrew is editing saves(Just Pokemon)?

update to 9.2 and use emunand to get to 10.4 no matter what you are doing that is your best bet, even if you arent using it for piracy the complete homebrew access is worth it.

if your main goal is extracting the save of retail game what do you need a sky3ds+ for?

Upgrade to 9.0/9.2, then install an EmuNAND. It's free and works better than Sky3DS
I suggest installing homemenuhax as your entrypoint for homebrew and using sysUpdater for a controlled update to 9.0/9.2. From there, set up your CFW.

or you can always stay at 6.0 and just use MSET to launch rxTools from there. easiest way to CFW.

Ummm.......For Games?

See? Everyone says that its better. But WHY is better? Other than that its free? What are the advantages of this over Sky3DS if I dont care about homebrew or emulators?

I want to know cuz theres no way back once I update it. Bbut now that I have the chance to do it. Im tempting to update. But why I should stay?

You can safely screw around without risking a brick. You can play out of region games without using homebrew (only using rxtools though iirc). You can update your emuNAND once you've set it up correctly and have unlinked your NANDs.

Oh thats really cool. When I turn the 3DS off do I have to set everything up next time?
