turn the console off then turn on the sleep switch and with the ntrboot flashed cart and all the needed files on the systems sd then Hold (Power) + (Start) + (Select) + (X) for several seconds, then release the buttons if done correctly it will boot into safeb9sinstaller

the screen just goes gray, then black and nothing until sleep switch is off

try hitting the power button last in the combo keys and also make sure the console is off when trying this not just the sleep switch so off and then sleep

When you turn off the sleep switch (give it like 30 seconds before turning it off), are you at the home menu immediately? If so, then it detected the ntrboot cart correctly. Normally the system won't boot while in sleep mode, so it would take a few seconds for the home menu to show up.
But if ntrboot is loaded successfully, but it can't find boot.firm, then it boots stock OFW.

Seems like it was the Flashcart I was using. I had it set to normal mode instead of NTR mode (Internal Switch)
