Recently, when closing apps or shutting off the system, my 2ds started freezing. The apps open and function normally without any problem, but as soon as I hit the Home button, the system freezes and I have to forcibly shut it down. So far, I had issues with 3ds apps only (not just games, but system stuff like options or the shop too), while nds games have had no problem whatsoever.

I never updated the cfw up until now, so I thought that could have been the problem: so I went and installed the newest version of Luma (13.3.3), but nothing changed.
I removed the SD card, afraid that could have been corrupted somehow, and tried doing the same thing, but nope: it still freezes.
I also tried working around the Home menu problem by just hitting the Power button to exit the app, but the freeze is still there.

At this point, I guess it might be an issue with the hardware itself, but it is beyond me what it could be: in its 10 years of life, it only ever needed a battery change, but never had any other issues.

I play with it very often, so the situation is getting pretty damn annoying and I'm afraid it could worsen with time.

Did any of you ever run into such an issue? If so, how did you manage to solve it?

Hi, I have the exact same problem and I've tried everything to fix it, but no luck. Have you found a solution?
