No, electrical tape is not enough to mantain a wire in place.
Soldering in case of hardmod is really a requirement, in order to guarantee a stable connection between eMMC and the card reader.

why guys? if the wires don't move?
You won't get a connection, tape is not good at keeping pressure on the wires which you would need to make proper contact. I can guarantee you that it won't work. I have tried many times to make contact between wires using just tape and it works very poorly. A tiny solder pad is going to be much, much harder. Whoever told you it works was bullshitting you.

Why even waste time asking if you're just going to be an idiot and do it anyway
because 10 years old.. or mama and papa didn't "parented good" and now it's a 20+ year's old which is still on his childhood
there are lot's of 10 year olds on gbatemp

anyway: @TheGreek Boy, even if you don't move the console the wires will barely touch the connections propertly
electricall tape will just hold them on place... they will not bind anything..
why don't you just try and check for yourself?
i am not sure how or if we can validade a nand dump on a 3ds.
but if chip is not communicating with the reader propertly, you probably will get a bad dump and in case you got a brick or other reason to restore that backup, you will ruin your console probably forever.

even with solder if it is not done properly it can create a bad connection..

Sigh... it's so asy to brick a 3DS/2DS corrupting the NAND with an unstable connection or with a short circuit caused by a badly taped wire? Why they don't understand? Why they ask for something that they will try anyway?!?

Ehi, pssst, I'm the voice in your head: you're writing on gbatemp, the place where Trolls make parties.
Oh, yep, I didn't noticed.
