2 of my USB ports not working?

Hello.
I have a problem. I wanted to plug my USB stick in one of the USB port on the back of my computer, but it didn't work. I tried the other one next to it and it didn't work.

The USB ports on the front are working.
So what is the problem and how can I fix it?

Have you checked in the BIOS if the USB ports are disabled?

Yes, I checked it and they are enabled.
It's very weird that just 2 ports aren't working...

in the past, I've made the experience that usb ports sometimes just die for no good reason. might be a broken contact/cable
or contacts arent touching anymore. did you try to carefully push against your usb stick from the top or the bottom (to push the contacts against one another)?

No, and I have no clue, they were never used, so I don't know.
I just tried and it didn't work either.

That would be the problem.

You need to find the USB controller drivers for your motherboard. If your motherboard came with a disc, the drivers would be on there. If not, go to your motherboards manufacturers site and search for you board model to find the correct drivers. You should be able to get the SM-Bus drivers there as well.

Most of the time a Windows Update will find the drivers under "Optional Updates". Failing that, there's an app called Slim Drivers which is Microsoft certified. It works miracles.

Right-click on those devices, then go to Properties. Then click on the Details tab, and find "Hardware Ids" in the Property drop-down list. Then look at the Value box below that, and do a search for it ("VID_046D&PID_C52B&REV_1201" in the case of this image). Usually you can find a device driver forum with someone asking the same question and someone will have posted the answer with a download link to the driver specific to that device ID.
