I'm still not sure why you can't just inject fbi to emunand's H&S applet, and use that to install BigBlueMenu or a newer FBI.cia.

I've had issues with rxtools running this injected fbi h&s applet before, but it's worked through cake for me when I have.

Edit: were you on a new 3ds where injection can have issues/lack of support?

I did inject FBI and BBM into H&S. Still not allowing me to install anything.

Well, in that one thread where someone quoted you and linked you Brahma supported versions of CFW, i grabbed the RXTools one (which had a 3dsx inside).

After downgrading, I installed menuhax, ran that RxTools via the HBL from Menuhax, and it worked perfectly for me, injected FBI in H&S and everything is working perfectly for me.

I tried it install the Cia of FBI with the injected FBI and gives me the same error you get when trying to install a Cia in userland.

Make sure that fbi.cia is valid. Try installing a BBM.cia instead.
I was having that issue with an fbi.cia myself this morning. It's possible there's a corrupt/buggy fbi.cia floating around, or it could be a coincidence.

edit: Otherwise all I can suggest is a clean installation of emunand/rxtools to make sure nothing got screwed up there.
I've had similar bugs I've been unable to clear up without a completely fresh start.

Guys just buy a Gateway if you downgraded lol. So much more hassle-free than CFW and works with about everything. It uses EmuNAND, you can eShop spoof with it, is region-free and allows for .cia installation.

They released a .3dsx file for the launcher so you can pretty much coldboot into GW mode with menuhax.

Or you can do that all for free as long as you don't have issues like me. :P

Unless you want .3ds support, a Gateway (At this point) is a waste of money. CFW isn't difficult to install, and it provides identical functions to Gateway. If you're having trouble setting up CFW, look at any of the countless tutorials that guides you through every single step.

What error are you getting?
 
No personally im good, i have CFW set up on another 3DS. Just throwing the option out there.

There were some things (like newer games' region patching) that couldnt be done on CFW, but i believe that might have been fixed now.
edit: After snooping around in more threads, yes it does seem that the new Nintendo AP checks have been overcome with rxTools 3.0.

Hey everyone, I managed to fucking finally boot RX-Tools!

I followed this and used an older vesion of RXTools:

The problem wasn't the NATIVE_FIRM downgrade, but RXTools being finicky. Thank you everyone yesterday for all the patience! I just cleaned my SD and re-installed RX following the link (the section about errors and if it gives NATIVE_FIRM erros) and it's done.

But... Now what? How the hell do I install CIAs here?

Inject fbi to emunand with rxtools, and install the fbi.cia or bbm.cia with that.
That will give you cia managers.

That's the problem, when I try to inject, do I need that inject files that need the region and version? For some reason, for me it only shows the REGION and no version.

Install an additional cia manger BBM to allow greater support for certain cia files.
But yeah if you're in emunand with cia managers, you can kinda go for it with games now.

edit:
You may want to consider unlinking nands if you haven't already and updating emunand, though you can only get up to 9.5 on n3ds currently.
