Hardware 1 PLAYER HAS GAMEPAD AND PRO CONTROLLER?

Hi guys!

I know it can be a dumb question, but I synced my new Pro Controller on my WiiU and it has been assigned to player 1.

This confused me as Player1 already use the gamepad... am I missing something? Should I change the Pro Controller into Player2 somehow?

... I have been researching on this, and it s very confusing. Some say that for 2 player game you need 2 Pro Controllers (like the gamepad doesn t count) and some say you can have a 2 player game with a Gamepad and a Pro Controller. Any hint?

The gamepad does not take a controller slot, it acts as it's own thing. This is why you can do up to 5 players in some games because the other 4 ports are for pro controllers and wii controllers. For 2 players you only need the 1 gamepad and 1 pro controller connected.
