Hello all!

I just opened my 3ds and updated the official firmware. Now when I start the console it says that "An error has occurred: Failed to apply 1 FIRM patch(es). Press any button to shut down."

What should I do? Is my console bricked?

I dont have an sd-card in the system. (I updated the system without sd-card in). I can get to godmode9 by pressing start and power.

Thanks in advance!

Edit: I can get to luma by pressing select and start. The version of luma is 8.1

You have to update Luma3DS to the latest version (v11), and you got to get an sd card to do that. Use Universal-Updater it's much easier, as it updates Luma3DS on both (SD & CTRNAND) for you without the need of doing it manually..

SO I am not doomed. Great! I have all my old 3ds-sd-card files in my computer. So should I first get my new sd-card (64gb) to fat 32?

Oh, and whatever sdcard you'll be getting, i highly recommend checking it with h2testw for errors, even if it's a new sd card. Do the test with the write and read setting.
You should format it as FAT32 32kb cluster size before and after the test.
The test should be completed without errors, otherwise i wouldn't recommend using that sd card if it isn't.

So after I have done that. How can I use this universal updater?

After you're sure that the sd card is not faulty, follow this guide to get all the homebrew apps including Luma3DS installed on your system, do all the steps that're on that page.. And it will be the same as if you updated Luma3DS through the Universal-Updater, so don't worry about it..

SO now I have completely new sd-card in FAT32. Ofcourse I dont have Luma-folder in it. Does this luma-folder need to have any files or do I just make a new folder called luma (and then continue the guide with payload folder and so on.)

Yes, you can do that.

Still I get the same error. Though where can I get the two missing files boot.3dsx and boot.firm?
Lol! Those are the two Luma3DS files needed for the system to boot up. It seems they're not on the Finalizing page i linked to (they used to be there fyi).. Anyway you can get them here. It should work now. And don't forget to set up Ctrnand Luma3DS (Section VI on the guide above), so the system could boot to the home menu when the sd card is not inserted.

Known problem. The finalizing part assumes one just completed the rest of The Guide – Luma and HB Launcher are already on SD in this case.
For the case of this thread (existing B9S, missing files or missing SD) there is a special page that ends with a link to the finalizing part.
