Okay, I'm very lost. Been googling for weeks now and only getting more and more confused with broken English tutorials and missing step sites, broken/outdated links, etc etc etc.

I have the NEW 2DS XL. I Have a Vanja USB Type-C/OTG Card Reader/Writer, an SD card formatted correctly (it does play my 2DS game in NDS file format no problem), and a "cart" I guess is what you call it that allows the SD Card to go into my system and play like a game cartridge. As I stated already, games I have in NDS file format (I have lots of them) work perfectly fine when on my SD Card. I just drag and drop them into my games folder and pop it into my 2DS and it works fine.

I tried to move .3ds files and .cia files and it doesn't work. Seeing a lot of lingo about purchasing something for like $30 to make it work, others say I have to have a FBI hack/brew thing to make it work, etc. Most every WORKING link says it's for the 3DS, makes no mention of the new 2DS XL.

So my question is... with what I have already, can I get 3DS games to work on my SD card with my NEW 2DS XL?

2DS is just a 3DS without the 3D features,

if you want to install 3DS games you will need to first hack your 3ds

they are installed in a different process to the NDS card you have.

OOOhhhh so I just treat it like a 3DS? I gotcha... that's clearly where I was hitting a roadblock. I considered them different entirely other than they can play the same games. Thank you! Checking that site out now... (I did run into that site a few times on my journey but assumed its 3ds only)

okie just to make it clear, a new 2ds xl can do everything a 3ds can do, even more better than a normal 3ds since it has the same power as a "new" 3ds. so i that case, you could make it play 3ds and nds games. so i get your question if you could play it of an sd and yea you could. you would need to jailbreak it if you want to play it for free aka (pirate it). but it's kinda a long process but only like a 40 minute process tbh. so in a way, if you have a 64 gig, that's good because you would get alot of games in there, not to mention custom homebrew apps in it too ! here's a video i learned to do it, blaine is so cool to explain how to hack the easy and simple :)

Gonna suggest avoiding video guides. Even though the 3DS is (maybe) dead, it's highly recommended to use The Guide
https://3ds.hacks.guide/
Video guides tend to either be outdated, lacking details, or lack resources to help troubleshoot issues.

Or in some cases they give links to download stuff that contains the OTP.bin of whoever made the video, which can result in bricks.
There's also that problem as well. Maybe come with someone's premade setup and you never know what's included in those.
wft why are people bumping these dead Threads..

Although video guides are nice to view and sometimes gives insight
they should never be used as your first or only source.

The Primary source for anyone trying to hack is
3ds
3DS Hacks Guidehttps://3ds.hacks.guide
Wii
Wii Guide - Wii Guidehttps://wii.guide
Wii U
Wii U Hacks Guidehttps://wiiu.hacks.guide
Switch
The Ultimate Noob Guide for Hacking your Nintendo Switch ...https://switch.homebrew.guide
Oof. The Temp really needs a better system at alerting people when a thread is old.
