SX core/OS to atmosphere for higher firmware versions?

Hi everyone,
(TLDR version is below)
My friend wants me to do hack his patched switched and I told him that I need to solder a modchip for his switch,
SX core( already did this for other friend) but the team xecuter got jailed from Nintendo...So I have 3 questions here:

Can I directly install Atmosphere with a SX Core, without the license thing from team Xecuter?
(maybe dumb questions but Im here to learn^^)
If yes, can I upgrade a better firmware version to the hacked switch with Sx Core than firmware version 11.0.0 as Atmosphere user?

and last, Are there other options to hack a patched switch?

SX Core is really hard to find these days. HWFLY clones are pretty much the only readily sourced option for a patched switch at the moment. Check aliexpress. You can absolutely use Atmosphere with a modchip. No license needed as you’re not using SXOS. Atmosphere enables you to use the latest available FW (currently 13.2.0).

for the right price, either one will play games and thats why we’re all here. I would say your budget and switch model availability should play a larger role in the decision. The rest is just whatever technical hoops you need to jump through to get to homebrew.

Yes, you can setup (not install) Atmosphere without a license. You can also update past firmware 11.0 since Atmosphere is regularly updated to support newer firmware versions. The only other way to hack patched consoles is via Deja Vu which is a browser based exploit that only works on firmware versions 4.1 or below.
