I have a PS2 modded with a 1TB internal HDD and FHDB, I've set up OPL, with POPS, a bunch of VCD's and I have retroarch set up as well, I have POPS.ELF and IOPRP252.IMG placed in __common/POPS/ I have the Beta 06 R13 WIP07 POPSTARTER.ELF placed in +OPL/POPS, and all my VCD's are placed in __.POPS in a 75GB partition, this is thee exact same setup as before, and everything used to work, but now OPL 1.1.0 stable refuses to recognize any VCD. The only difference is I'm using a more modern OPL, and my HDD is nearly full. When I was able to get PS1 games to list, whenever I launched them, I'd get kicked back to the browser, I'm having that same issue with RetroArch, it's listed, the config should be setup right, but it kicks me back to the browser.

Does anybody know what's going on? This is really frustrating

Folder structure:

|____POPS
| |____POPS_IOX.PAK
| |____POPSTARTER.ELF
| |____SLPS_002.15.Policenauts Disc 1
| | |____SLOT0.VMC
| | |____SLOT1.VMC
| |____SLPS_002.16.Policenauts Disc 2.VCD
| |____SLPS_002.15.Policenauts Disc 1.VCD
Folder with memorycards gets created automatically (?)

Full content of my USB stick:
https://pastebin.com/MAS9bzXp
(in case its usefull)

(Also has a retroarch directory on it.)

Afair, popstarter will always (?) be launched (and populated) from usb (fat32). No config required.

For apps to show up, I have a conf_apps.cfg file in the root of the USB stick (unsure if I've also copied it to memory card, or HDD, maybe I have.) with the following two lines in it:

PicoDrive=mass:/APPS/PicoDrive/PicoDrive.elf
Retroarch=mass:/APPS/Retroarch/raboot.elf

Ping me again, if you need to know the version of OPL I'm running, and need to know if I've copied the config file to MC and or HDD. Currently I cant be bothered to turn on the PS2 to look. :)

Also - have you tried an older usb (2.0 or 1.1) stick? Maybe you are running into power issues, as those usb ports are USB 1.1 with 5v 500mA power delivery.

edit: Thats for popstarter from a USB stick. Havent set up popstarter from HDD. I believe I remember, that that would have been a different setup.

edit2:

This is a tutorial for how to set it up on the PS2s internal HDD.

Am having the same issues of OPL not seeing my PS1 games on my fat32 HDD, it sees all but one of my 759 PS2 games, by the way it is connected internally via original network adapter with sata mod, the hard drive is a 8tb western digital... And no that is not a typo or a joke, it is running the 8tb drive. But OPL manager sees everything on the drive when connected to the computer, the model PS2 am using is the 30001R US model, and using a memor32 memory as it has a USB port (the OG memory card used to develop freeMC boot on)
Am kinda lost here as once can get it to see the 205 PS1 games on this drive I can add my other 1000 PS1 games, and add another 500-700 PS2 games as well. As currently got the best games of all regions currently on their plus some custom modded games.
The online games have been patched to work online like back in the day so I play on those running servers. Except for resident evil outbreak the moderator is not answering the website for new players to setup and play sadly. The goal is to a plug an play drive configured with about 1000-1500 PS2 games and all the north american games for PS1.

The max storage capacity the PS2 can handle is 2TB iirc, no more than that. So that remaining 6tb is wasted.
As for PS1 games, i assume you converted them into .vcd files and copied them into their correct directory? Btw, it's only emulation, the POPSTARTER emulator won't play any PS1 game you throw at it, some might work without any major issues but some might not work at all.

Grimdoomer has modded OPL to read the 8TB
you can google search grimdoomer open PS2 loader

But yes I have already converted the PS1 roms into VCDs

Do you have a version of OPL that displays ps1 games? Since version 1.0 OPL doesn't support PS1 games and you need one of the daily builds which are done by a different group or person. I'm currently using this version that works for me:
https://github.com/Jay-Jay-OPL/OPL-Daily-Builds/releases

If you are however using a specific version of OPL for larger drives you will need to contact the developer and ask them to add ps1 support or learn how to edit the source yourself to add it.

    I personally handled a call from the second highest person at Raytheon. That call bothered me a lot... The guy was nice and smart what bothered me was the way management basically just blew him off instead of going the extra mile to help him.

    In the end that call ended up costing Dell millions in lost contracts with Raytheon, and really the issue could have been solved for like 450 bucks lol

    I always thought that capcom shuffled the games in these collection, but apparently they are all in chronological order, which makes legacy collection 2 worthless
