I’m having a big problem and I’m hoping y’all can help.

I have a 2TB Seagate Barracuda drive I’m trying to format. I tried both the OEM Network Adapter with SATA mod and GameStar SATA adapter and tried to format with both uLe 2TB and wLe but the OEM didn’t even read the drive and the GameStar took its time, read it, and said there was no drive connected.

Tried to use a SATA to USB and it works fine when I format it with Windows. So the drive isn’t the problem. It’s relatively new. I tried to format it with HDD RAW Copy with the FHDB image from the Noobie Package and HDL Dumb recognizes it but again, the PS2 does NOT.

I’m using an Ocean Blue SCPH-37000 unit.

I’m seriously out of ideas at this point. It was working fine with my last PS2 before I traded that in for this one.

At the point when it comes to filling the drive with games you will appreciate a direct HDD connection to the PC, trust me (just for speed alone). 40 min to wait on a rip on the original harddrive isnt fun. (Havent tried LAN.)

So I'd suggest you connect the drive to a PC via sata, or buy a powered sata to usb adapter (gutted a WD My Book USB drive, worked wonderfully.. ;) ) - and then format the HDD on the PC using WinHIIP (set to 48bit, during the formating process, needed for those large drives).

That said, I was able to format my 1TB WD Red (almost silent btw, great choice for a HDD imho) in HDL on the console as well using the Gamestar adapter.

On the setup front to be honest, I just bought two (in case one flakes out) Free McBoot v 1,966 memory cards from aliexpress and it worked out of the box. (Gamestar Adapter.) As in has all the software on it to read a 1TB drive (both HDL and OPL, as well as HDDManager can read it).

Also, make sure your Network adapter is connected, but if the HDD gets read, it is. (Its possible to connect it loosely (when not screwing in the attachment screws), so they look connected, but arent).

edit: Just read the "was working fine before part". Sorry, dont know of any interaction with that model type that would prevent what you are trying to do. Also - the stuff just posted probably doesnt apply. Updating Free Mcboot and components, might be worth a shot though.

Winhiip cannot handle 2TB drives. Winhiip should also be avoided as it is old and outdated. There are better methods for installing.
Thank you for clarifying. :) I lucked out then (for the most part, until I didnt.. ;) ). 1TB drive here. Good for 280 or so games.. :) (Some of which small.. ;) ).
