A possible hostage situation is reportedly taking place at Ubisoft's Montreal office building

Multiple French-speaking news outlets are reporting that a dramatic situation is taking place at Ubisoft Montreal. According to Journal de Quebec, TVA Nouvelles, and footage from Twitter users near the area, suspects have taken "dozens" of hostages inside Ubisoft's office. Police are currently recorded as being on the scene, approaching the building on Saint-Laurent Boulevard. Currently, sources claim that employees are hiding under their desks, are trapped on the roof, or have escaped the building.

[UPDATE]

Jason Schreier is reporting that Ubisoft employees have received security instructions and are evacuating, though the actual cause is unknown at this point, and that they're working with the police.

[UPDATE2]

The call has been reported as a hoax. No one was injured, and all employees appear to have safely left the building.

That's hilarious, I'm glad it was a hoax and nobody actually got hurt. I'll take a hoax over that any day.

I see what you mean, so I have to wonder at the larger context of it in the game. Why is she evil because of her scars? Is she blaming herself, or is she referring to society rejecting her because of her scars? If she's evil literally just because she has scars, that's one thing. If she's evil because she's been unfairly rejected by society over them, then that's another thing entirely.
Care to expand on that one?

I would have thought being evil because rejected by society ("I was an outcast, real or imagined, doing what I had to so as to survive" being a fairly well worn story path*) is a reasonable concept to follow down or explore.

*if they were really good then being assassins presumably driving the story then we might have got some kind of if not redemption arc then http://www.chrisjoneswriting.com/terry-pratchett-quotes/assassination1 type contrast, except probably a fraction as well written.

Unless you mean scars therefore evil is the dubious one, which did not seem to be the context of the article linked at all.

Oh, I completely agree with you and also think that could be an interesting avenue to explore. Scars = evil would be the dubious one. As for why I brought that up, I was responding to what AmandaRose had written rather than the contents of the article itself.

You're kidding me, right?
THAT SPARKED CONTROVERSY?!
What kind of world are we living in?

Guess you can add ableist to the list.

I don't even know what ableist means. Who comes up with these adjectives, anyway?

To be fair, I still don't know who's more annoying - those who bicker over petty semantics, or those who still blame all society's woes on Anita Sarkeesian in 2020 :P

There appears to be a fairly standard formula.

Take a trait/grouping that may or may not come with a downside in life and society in a given place, or the opposite (in this case able coming from disable, as in disabled and able bodied. Quite what burn scars and iron lungs have to do with each other is left for the reader to ponder), add ist to the end and accuse people of being unfairly discriminatory bastards (might even be phobic) and collect good boy points for saying as such. Bonus points if such a trait can be said to have "less power in society" (whatever that might mean) and thus are inherently victims. Super bonus points if you can ignore physics (I mean imagine saying this 1.3m and a fag paper lady in a wheelchair can't be a firefighter... what a bigot) and possibly also deal with self inflicted ("being fat comes with health risks" is apparently just as bad as a string of racial epithets to a grieving old set of grandparents while the body is still warm). Ultra mega bonus points if you can stack up several traits in one person, with a further multiplier if you as none of that can rise up to defend them unbidden or unjustified. Minor divisor if the trait/grouping is not cute. Recalculate if everybody around you is in the same bucket (you might be gay but you are a male so you are not as bad off and don't get to be in our group/get our help sort of thing). If you can get a whine about language in there then so much the better (person contains son which is male and therefore needs to not be police person but in face police people, though police are bad so who cares).
Points not redeemable for cash, points not redeemable in most outlets, points primarily redeemable at the discretion of the viewer.
