Emulation If I want to play GBA on my hacked 3DS, do I need retroarch to play it at native quality?

Hey sorry if this is a noob question but I'm new here. I've got a hacked 3DS, and my understanding is that it can play GBA games at native quality. I also see people talking about playing on 3DS using retroarch which is an emulator. So that doesn't seem like it would be the way to play stuff at native quality but I'm not sure.

The mGBA installed in the homebrew channel on the hacked 3DS plays GBA games in horrible unplayable quality for some reason. Everything is super stuttering and slow. I have an old 3ds so maybe that's why?

Use injected .CIA files and when booting hold Start or Select to get native resolution

You can play GBA games at full speed using the built-in Virtual Console: https://3ds.eiphax.tech/nsui.html. This is your best option on o3DS.

Emulators give you extra features like save states, but as you point out, they are harder work for the processor and may not run perfectly. I use mGBA on my n3DS, as it lets me run games at a faster speed, but the frame rate sometimes drops, and I get crackling sound.

On old2ds i play GBA games with twilight menu. All pokemon games work without problem. I think on your 3ds this can work too.
