How would he know? My step uncle works for Microsoft and he says Microsoft will develop the emulator for PS5, and Microsoft will hack the PS5 and sell backups.
Well my uncle whose friend works at Microsoft told me that his friend said that Microsoft isn't even a real company so take that

I just wouldn't hold your hopes until EOL then we will see if those DEVs really have something or they was just talking shit.
Devs will place their mouth where they place their money, doens't bother me at all and i can wait a couple years.
As i said i will buy at least 3 ps5 consoles, as always get 2 o 3 spare consoles for any upcoming hacks.

Maybe I'm the only one that doesn't want a jailbreak right now for the PS5. EOL I'm all for it if everyone can jailbreak easily it's going to hurt the PS5

If you want to wait til EOL no problem, but there's no evidence that a hacked console has ever been hurt saleswise except the Dreamcast because they were so stupid you could just burn discs without any mods. Switch is fully hacked, and has sold 55 million units in 3 years. PS4 was hacked until 2 years ago the sales were through the roof. I got a modchip for my PS2 when it was in it's prime and it sold over 100 million unitts.

Back in 2001 not that many people are aware of mods. Now more people are aware most people who mod the system 6/10 times end of banning their units. To a certain extent game sales are maybe 20% decline of piracy but if you make it super easy to pirate you will get the locals I can mod you switch for $50 then those guys increase the awareness of modding. To be honest with you I never even knew modding even existed until I bought a hacked PSP for $60 that is how I was introduced into modding. The average person doesn't know these things but they are introduced into it by the local ads mod xxx device for $$$ amount.

People think SXOS is bad they should see people charging $50 on the street to load atmosphere (free) on switches LOL

piracy boost consoles sales, relax hold on tight and enjoy the flight.
This is true I bought a switch because it could be modded and a Vita, 3DS, and Wii because of the modding capabilities if it wasn't modded I would not own it.

What a dumb question. Better question to ask is how long it took ps4 to get something comparable running at decent performance.

The PS4 and Switch are not from 2001 they are out today and both have had hacks (PS4 not after 5.05) but sales were never effected.

Now if you want to talk individual game sales there could possibly be an argument especially on PC when there's more people pirating PC games that ever on console.

This is probably often true, but often Sony and Microsoft take losses on each system sold and rely on software sales for their profits; they want more people to own their systems because it means more people are buying their games. The fallacy here is assuming that strong hardware sales means that profits are not affected by piracy. Now, I'm not gonna sit here and say that software sales remained strong or are significantly hurt by piracy, but let's not pretend that a system selling well while piracy is strong on the system means that profits therefore are strong as well.

PS4 is kinda a delicate subject because the hack was only short lived and a good percentage of people had updated their system to play newer games.. The switch uses the fuse-glee (currently) so you basically have to be lucky to own one from launch or you had to go out and spend a good $$$ for them I paid $500 for both my unpatched switches so I spent a good amount of money just to be able to mod.

For PC I guess steam is for those "hard core PC gamers" I always pirated all my PC games but they are getting more harder to do with the Denovo DRM I really wanted to pirate RE3 but I have to buy it when it is on sale for $20 on black friday.

Piracy is getting harder and harder by the year. I saw a youtube video saying Sony is trying to push the agenda on a PS5 disc-less version if it does really well they will do away with disks. (Not sure if this is possible) but then again remember the headphone jack is obsolete so anything is possible.

But the assumption you're making is that if PS5 were to come out with a hack it would be permanent and it would effect sales. We don't know any of that it more than likely will be patched as soon as you update so just like PS4 you will have to have an old firmware. Unless the hackers come up with a way to make new games work on old firmware.

Only the most hardcore pirates (some of them members of GBATemp) is going to have two consoles one to pirate on an old firmware one for newer games.

I don't disagree with that. Hell, I'm part of it. I'm just saying, let's not assume that because consoles sell well while piracy is occurring on it, that the piracy isn't affecting the profits of Sony and/or Microsoft. Shit, if the systems sold incredibly well, but no software at all was sold because of piracy, Sony and/or Microsoft would actually be losing money.
