Hi guys

Im quite new to custom firmware on the switch and had an issue recently, i couldn't figure out what was wrong so i decided to wipe the entire sd card and redo the custom firmware process again

before i did this, i copied and pasted my entire sd card to my laptop

i booted up and couldn't find my game save file,
i was silly and didn't use checkpoint to save it but this was a save file from an XCI game, so i assumed it could be in one of 2 places, the sd card or the switches internal memory.

have i lost the save file? is it in the files i copied? if so how can i restore it? can i just drag and drop?

thank you

Lots of variables here so need a bit of information to make better guess.

First off you mention XCI's so I'll assume your on SX OS firmware with a license, next part of your question, XCI's are treated just like standard cartridges so the games are save in the same place on the system nand. you also mentioned you copy and pasted the SD card. Did you make an EmuNAND? if so did you delete and remake it? if not then it shouldn't of affected your game saves as they would have been on NAND.

hope you find it, and this helps you track down the saves

hi thanks for the reply
I assumed it would be in the same place as other official saves
I have official cartridge save files on the system, and after reinstalling custom firmware, only the xci files game save is missing.
so i guess it's on the sd card files?

i have no made an emuNAND.
I just hope the save is on the sd card files i copied over and hopefully i can just copy them back on the sd card

No problem, just trying to think of anything that might help. It should be stored in the same place, however if you have a EmuNAND the saves will be stored in the EmuNAND, if not then it will be stored on the SysNAND. but as for the console it doesn't know the difference between XCI and Cart's. the saves get stored in same place, in fact, on my friends switch ;-) the same save is used for XCI's and carts.I actually don't know any game that saves just to the SD card but I could be wrong on that.

How did you set up the CFW?

You seem to have quite a bit of experience here freedom099 so I'd like your help if possible. I'm on the latest Switch FW (10+) and using 2.9.5 (beta) SXOS and I tried to update Stardew to the latest version (1.4.4) It looks like it tries to load but hangs at the black loading screen before gettting to the title. I'm on original Nand and blocked Nintendo servers.

-To remedy the situation I tried wiping my switch with a factory restore but made sure to back up the Nand first and all the saves. I'm back to Version 1 of the game in NSP format.
-How can I take my old save and transfer it to the new profile using Checkpoint?
-I tried making a new save and deleting the inside folder contents and transfered the old save folder contents and tried to reinstall the new profile save with the "guts' of the old file I'm trying to get back using Checkpoint but to no avail.

Is the save tied to the profile and last known version number of the game? I tried to do my wife a favor by giving her the latest update.. She's put a lot of time in hence my request. Any help is appreciated. Thanks for your time with this.
