I was thinking... once the event has started surely if you visited a friend's town who has 'unlocked' the event you'd have it unlocked too? I'd find it weird if you could participate in it on another person's island but not your own. I doubt it though.
According to Nintendos twitter there will be an update tomorrow which will unlock easter event.

It's like a switch (an actual switch, not the Nintendo Switch) server-side to activate certain content.

I wonder if Smash's spirit events are also BCAT. Since they can be spoofed to get the spirits on the spirit board permanently, if they are indeed BCAT it would mean that we could possibly gets the event enabled on Offline Switch, maybe even with time traveling.

It's already working. Have 1.1.1a already for like 6 hours

Huh, so they did spoof the BCAT then. I wonder if it will still works after the event theoretically finished, like the Smash events. Or, I also heard that if you use flash memory, it can act as more "RAM" at least windows tell me when I stick a flash drive into it. -
