Nintendo Switch Online NES and SNES games for February 2020 revealed

Nintendo is bringing fans some new-old classics for the first time of the year, in their February 2020 update for Nintendo Switch Online retro games. Four new games are slated to be added to the service on February 19th, including two NES games and two SNES. On the Nintendo Entertainment System side of things, Shadow of the Ninja and Eliminator Boat Duel will be the latest playable titles, while the Super Nintendo section will see Pop'n TwinBee and Smash Tennis joining their ranks.

Super NES™ Pop'n TwinBee - The sixth game in the TwinBee series, this vertically scrolling shooter takes place in a cute, poppy setting. This shooting game was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System™ in 1993. TwinBee and WinBee hear from a girl named Madoka that her great-grandfather, Dr. Mardock, has lost his wits, so they set off to return him to his normal self. This game doesn't offer multiple "lives," but the ship will not be destroyed when hit by enemies or their attacks until the life gauge reaches 0. Shoot bells found in the clouds to change their colors and receive various effects.

Smash Tennis - In Smash Tennis for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System™, the controls may be simple, but there's plenty of room for skill! Perform a strong shot with the A Button, a weak shot with the B Button, or a lob with the X Button. Easy, right? Well, with only those moves, you can develop all sorts of approaches, unlocking the deep strategies of tennis! See how you fair on the court in Exhibition mode, where you can select your character and court type freely, or in Tournament mode, where you must win set after set to progress through the tournament. All on one of eight court types—three basic and five special!

NES Shadow of the Ninja - Infiltrate Emperor Garuda's stronghold as you prowl through the shadows. It is the year AD 2029, and America is ruled under the dictatorship of Emperor Garuda. In the midst of disorder and oppression, two shadow warriors rise to the people’s cry for help. Choose to play as one of two ninja masters from the Iga clan—Hayate and Kaede—as they infiltrate enemy front lines in these action-packed stages. Master tactics of stealth as you acquire additional weapons and power-ups, defeating numerous foes until you reach the emperor himself. Overthrow the emperor and destroy his wicked empire from within, solo or with a friend!

Eliminator Boat Duel - In this powerboat racing game, get behind the wheel of one of the fastest machines on the water, and get ready to earn boatloads of in-game cash! Drivers earn thousands of dollars for competing, and you'll use your winnings to repair and upgrade your boat to really push your competitive edge to its maximum. Money is what keeps you afloat, and a little aggression can go a long way: sink an opponent to earn a cool $50,000 in-game reward to spend souping up your powerboat. Just try not to get sunk yourself, or you'll be swimming back to dry land. And try to keep the false starts to a minimum. Each time you jump the gun, you'll be slapped with a $2,000 in-game penalty, which is almost worse than going for a swim!

No thanks. I will be fine with homebrew of NES and SNES emulators. They are way better than this one. It wont survive when Nintendo Switch Online is dead in the future. Those will be no longer working and useless. Nah, be wise! I WILL SKIP IT!

I don't think the outrage comes from the price of the sub, but the selection of games. NES and SNES have a gigantic library of games and would take years to deplete the good games of the bunch, with some reasonable and some duds in the middle of each offering to make things interesting.
Thers to much hate over which games come-we should welcome any random selection tht they giv us - as thers gonna be some people never heard of pop twin bee and end up liking it-and thers a lot of gamers who would enjoy these tennis games like super tennis one of the best tennis games ever and I've not pld this one but thts a good thing as many others may not hav either and end up liking it - so everyone should be grateful what they giv as you never kno it may end up in yr top 10 snes games

While I tend to agree, the problem is that the games that everyone considers as good or just amazing are just left forgotten.
Super Aleste, Actraiser, Cybernator, Blackthorne, Zombies ate My Neighbours, Contra III, Final Fantasy VI, Final Fight 2 and 3, Mega Man X, Terranigma, Killer Instinct, Axelay, Kirby, Donkey Kong Country...

Come On... Pop'n TwinBee is a great game, mind you.

They could very well get one of these system sellers with another lesser known game from the ones made by JBL or Ocean, and everyone would be happy.

But what do I know?

Just who, exactly, picks the random four or five shovelware games that make their way onto Switch Online? This is gonna repel more fans than it attracts.

F***, just give me a direct. Not super smash shit's. New Nintendo originals. Mario, bayonetta, pikmin or Metroid game. Something, I am starting to lose faith in Nintendo. Give me something to believe in. Don't care about SNES games, or Nes..

If they do a direct, you know what you are getting, more ports and old games.

Maybe it has to do with copyrighting and all other legal stuff. But in all honesty if you have a modded switch why worry about this at all?

Three months and thats it.
Itsbas if they don't care if subsciptions cease across the board.
Cause if this is the rate of "hey look you also get these retro games" then it's kinda just straght up disrespectful.
I'm not asking for a ton and they could pad it out with non gams things but a steady stream of reasons to stay subscribed is kind of important.
I'm more bothered by the frontwnd and emulator being pretty dry bones really.
No control config, (SOL if you have dissabilities and need keys on easier to reach buttons) No improvements on netcode, no added online functions like inviting friends to play or more hand gestures, controller swapping, side by side speed runs etc.
Really basic stuff that would make it more worth it.
Online access isnt great either so while the service is cheap I don't feel I need to renew it come the day my subscription expires this year and the only incetive to stay is for Bubsy 1 and 2 being added.

In Nintendo's defense, I haven't played any of these games before.
Nothing wrong in trying to help people find sleeper games.

NSO £3.49 a month - each game less than a quid - all those moaning spoilt brats
They're paying for a service so they have the right to complain and be disappointed. Nintendo can do better.

Do you kno what happens when you hav to many choice of games to play - you end up never finishing any of them - giving a few a month is a good thing and those tht moan about ther not good enough then don't join the service as thers many out ther who wil like what random games pop up-and you get some people here hating on nintendo saying stuff like fk you nintendo because ther not offering ther personal faves of 25 year old games lol is pathetic
