Love my Wii for emulation and wondering what advantages a Wii U would have over it other than playing Wii U games?

Off tv play is the best thing imo! Watch whatever on tv while playing whatever on the gamepad.
Emulation is pretty good in most cases but not all emulators support the gamepad as a controller. Same with some wii games unfortunately.

The Wii U has HDMI out, so it is compatible / gives better picture with more modern screens.

Some of the emulators (WiiSXR for PS1 and Wii64 for N64) can be overclocked to give better results.

OTOH you lose compatibility with GC physical discs (you need to use Nintendont) and controllers (you need a USB adapter).

That is a nice feature, yeah.

The lack of GameCube ports makes the U inferior to Wii in regards to emulation. I say get a U, though. It's worth having both.

You can have nintendont on your U with straight up GC games on your menu that are all playable on the gamepad too! Ports are lazy, get the original white label versions!!
