Not sure if this is the right place to ask so feel free to move/close if not appropriate.

I'm looking to sell my CFW 3DS but want to reset it beforehand to make sure none of my details like my NNID or email are left. Any tips on the best way to wipe it without removing any of the homebrew?

If your SD card has just as much free space as the entire Nintendo 3DS folder, and you wish to sell the games found on HOME Menu,
  1. GodMode9 → [A:] SYSNAND SD → hold (L)-shoulder and press (RIGHT) d-pad to highlight dbs, extdata, and title in yellow.
  2. Press (Y) to [CLIPBOARD] select these three (3) folder. See the bottom LCD's top-right corner.
    • Press (SELECT) to reset if selection mistaken occurred.
  3. Back out with (B) button and go into [0:] SD CARD ().
  4. Hold (R)-shoulder and press (Y) → Create a foldernewdir (or name this as 0 - dumped).
  5. Go in the 0 - dumped folder. Press (Y) → <A> yes.
    • This will copy and paste a decrypted version of the Nintendo 3DS folder.
    • You may need to put the 3DS on an AC charger while it is copying.
  6. Once complete, press (START) to exit GodMode9.
  7. System Settings → Other Settings → Format System Memory.
    • :!: This action is not reversible if there is no backed up SysNAND *.bin image.
    • In case you have second thoughts selling the 3DS system,
    • :!: If steps 1-5 were skipped, the Nintendo 3DS folder will be permanently deleted.
  8. Create a dummy profile -or- skip the new user introduction with CTRTransfer (Type D9) - Bypass Profile Setup.
  9. From the 0 - dumped folder, copy and paste the dbs, extdata, and title subfolders back into the [A:] SYSNAND SD.
    • This will re-encrypt the contents to the new dummy profile's setup.
  10. Back out with (B) button. While under [root], hold (R)-shoulder and press (A) on [A:] SYSNAND SDFix CMACs for drive → etc.
    • Do this with GodMode9 v1.9.0 v1.9.1. This step is needed or else the titles won't reappear in HOME Menu.
    • Edit Update Feb-01-2020: Due to a regression bug in GM9 v1.9.1, CMACs are missed for *.cmd and *.sav files. They'll require fixing semi-manually.
      1. GodMode9 v1.9.1 → [A:] SYSNAND SD → hold (R)-shoulder and press (A) on titleSearch for files...
      2. Type in *.cmd for the search entry. Press SUBMIT.
      3. Hold (L)-shoulder and press (RIGHT) d-pad to highlight all the cmd files in yellow.
      4. Press (A) → Calculate CMACFix CMAC for all.
      5. Repeat the 1-4 process for *.sav files.
  11. Check for missing tickets. Restore with fake tickets using faketik.
  12. Mass unwrap the HOME Menu icons with Cthulhu.
  13. If you wish to have the buyer experience the new user introduction,
    • GodMode9 → [1:] SYSNAND CTRNAND → press (X) on data → etc, to delete the dummy profile.

***

If you're absolutely sure about deleting everything (NNID, the entire Nintendo 3DS folder, Activity Log, Friends List, etc.) where you don't plan to System Transfer your setup to a different 3DS system like this,
, you can go straight to Format System Memory, make a dummy profile, and then reinstall most of the latest homebrew apps with this CFW starter kit.

(I tried to quote your post but it wont let me because of the hyperlinks)

Thank you for this!

I've followed most of it but now whenever I try and launch any of the previous cias or games I get an error:

Errdisp error type: card was removed

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks in advance!
