HI all - new to the 360 hacking scene so just wondering if its worth buying a JTAG'd Falcon model for $100 ?

I have a few 360 slims already, mostly for rock band and guitar hero, but am just curious if $100 is a fair price for this hacked console.

The seller says its in excellent condition and that it has an upgraded aftermarket fan as well as an extra fan installed internally to prevent overheating / RROD.

It also includes a free USB key running XeXMenu.

TIA !

Why don't you mod the slims? I just started doing rgh to it and while my soldering isn't amazing i still managed no problem. I'm in Canada Ontario as well did 7 so far for me/family. Local prices were a bit outrageous

It's entirely possible for OP to have 0 skill with soldering.
Sometimes it's easier to get a pre-modded system if you lack the interest of hacking it yourself due to 0 soldering skills.

100 quid is a bit steep but is a fair price none the less if you factor in the time it'll take to modify it.

I got pretty good after the first 2. But practice makes perfect i also botched one learning as well. Most slims i got for 20$ :) for me it's more interested in modding it hahaa less about using it ( i have 8 slims rgh in my closet. Was starting to do corona but then that's the one i botched didn't realize then cpu pin if not in properly wouldn't work so i kept redoing my points eventually lifted the pads more frustrating then kept going worse to worse lol. Well next time i know better :)

But 100$ for a fat console no HDD seems a bit steep. Id see that more for a slim console. Trinity

where in Ontario are you ? do you know of any modding places in the Hamilton area ?

I would be down to mod one of my slims but as a poster mentioned - I have zero skills/experience in soldering

thanks is it possible to buy an actual xbox hard drive but just swap the drive out for another larger one ?
Inside that caddy is a 2.5” laptop drive. You don’t need a security sector on the HDD on a console that’s hacked so just swap it out with one of those you got laying around.

thanks so i can buy a drive that looks like the one in this ad and just swap out for another 2.5" drive up to 2 TB - https://www.kijiji.ca/v-xbox-360/hamilton/xbox-360-pro-edition-non-functional/1461568868

yes, 360 hdds are just glorified 2.5" hdds at three times the price. you can fit a 9.5mm inside or bend the four metal tabs that go over the hdd back 'til they snap off. then, you can use a 12.5mm hdd. that's what I did, and it's worked for like 5-10 years. I don't know if a 15mm will fit though.

Soldering for me isn't an issue neither haha but I can see why some choose to get a pre-modded one.

Personally, I also prefer to do it meself.
Minimises the chance of getting a system that's banned or has been botched in some way.

Yeh just a bigger laptop styled harddrive and follow this tut.
Take a peek at this thread, it'll explain a few things whilst you're doing it.

I'm just north of the GTA... Soldering is not to hard just need lots of flux and a good tip on the soldering gun.. most places i know haven't been offering rgh anymore or if they do it's stupid expensive.

The whole install will take you probably 30 min. But i wouldn't pay the 100 for a fat that's just me at the very least it should be a Jasper not a falcon. There's a few good tutorials. And after you get experienced with it you'll question why you ever paid someone (i know i did) but then again it's come along way in which is didn't need any resistors for my Trinity or alternate points or different cable lengths just solder and near instant boot times.

It’s like 70$ US and like 60 quid. The 100 is in Canadian dollars. With a controller and power brick it’s well worth it.

word of warning: be careful with the eject button spring. it has a tendency to fly off, since it's not really held together by anything.

so i picked up a slim with kinect and a controller for $75 CDN and it also has a 60 GB hdd.

the guy said its modded but i didnt see anything special on the dash but he did play a game from a burnt dvd.

i thought there was some special dash these usually have so that you can browse games, etc..

is that something i can install on my own ?

how else can i tell if this is modded or not and how do i save games to the hdd ?

Sounds like the DVD drive has a firmware flash. Its not hacked, only the disc drive is. That can't run unsigned code.

but it can run burned games - is there a special way to burn games ?

you can burn xgd2 games with any dvd burner, but I think you need a special burner for xgd3 games. microsoft added support with 13599 iirc. what firmware are you on? if you're below that, the system will reflash the dvd drive back to stock, so you'll have to install cfw again.

2TB max internal 2.5 inch laptop sata
2TB max usb

I would stay away from falcons and below and go with jaspers and above.
