Need for Speed: Heat is the latest iteration in the franchise

Though it's no longer a yearly series, it's been two years since the release of the previous Need for Speed game, meaning it's time for a new reveal. EA has just announced Need for Speed: Heat, the latest in the arcade-style racing series developed by Ghost. Familiar mainstays such as police chases and a huge open world track return, as you drive around Palm City, a fictional location heavily based on the city of Miami. You'll be able to destroy, customize, and race cars when Need for Speed: Heat launches for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One this November 8th. As usual, Origin Access and EA Access subscribers will get to try the game three days prior to launch.

EA so I don't even expect them to have even the vaguest whiff of restraint. At this point it is not even believe it when I see it because if I saw it, managed to get 30 hours of hassle free play out of it, saw it repeated for other people I would still be waiting for the proverbial other shoe to drop*. I also have no particular empathy for poor put down street racers and I am normally all about dystopian fiction (as in I actually read all the Divergent books and I am not a teenage American girl with suspect taste in fiction).

*even the "5 months on (after all the reviews are in) we introduced pay to play microtransactions in an update" would not be it and I would still await it getting worse.

Despite not being too terribly into car games I have played every iteration, or at least era, of need for speed back to the 90s stuff (indeed even picked up a copy of 1997's NFS II the other day). Fired up a version of underground 2 on the gamecube the other month and had a blast there as well. Mind you I will cop to enjoying it as recently as The Run, which was not a great NFS game as they were at the peak (or what I normally seek in one) but as a spectacle then it did OK and had a nice sound track as well.

Heat? That sounds rather weak. Shouldn't it be something "cool" sounding in case of a NFS since Underground days? "Hell on Road" should be the bare minimum.

Haven’t played a NFS game in years, I used to love them but when they launched, I think it was Most Wanted and you couldn’t pause the damn thing, I dropped it like a hot rock.

Don't get me wrong, not being able to pause while actively playing multiplayer makes total sense - for obvious reasons. But in single player, even if they have made it an always online game, pausing should be allowed. I hate having my race knackered just because I have to go answer the door, the phone, or otherwise interact with the real world.

If pausing has been re-introduced already I may look at some of the other games, or if they bring it back with this, I’ll check it out if it’s any good.

But to be honest, I’m happier playing Burnout Revenge than any of the last few NFS games I played.

What the heck you on about wrong bet

By the time the PS3 appeared the 360 was already well entrenched, was the lead platform for most games, was getting all sorts of exclusives, was also not missing out on things the PS3 had and so on and so on. Eventually the PS3 made it but for quite a while there it was the lesser option.

Hardly relevant to the game I mentioned to even mention xbox 360 and Yr wrong ps3 always had the better options from the start and I don't want to get into a debate re which was better to hav as its childish- all I said was a new motorstorm would of been more welcome

And I think an maybe Underground "clone" or whatever makes it also not better....
That's really a pity......

But sure, this new one will also make its successful way.

NFS Road & Track is my childhood, so is NFS 3 hot pursuit and NFS 4 Highstakes.

Fortunately the word heat got immeasurably cooler following

Wow, I actually really like the calmer camera style from older films, but this by todays standards feels absurde and self-contradictory. You have something that clearly is a action scene (a gun fight/mass shooting) but by todays standards the cutting feels slow paced, yet you have things like the camera following someone near the shoulder and persons making fast 180 degree turns with there weapon. Wonder if it feels normal again if you see it in the context of the whole film or if it continues to give the feeling of beeing hard to categorise. Nevermind watching this was a intressting experince thanks.

Motorstorm was a PS3 exclusive upon release. I commented that the only people that cared would be those that got the PS3 and then realised it was not going to be another knock down and drag out like the PS1 and PS2, and that actually it was somewhat lacking at during the early years compared to the 360. Motorstorm and I guess a Resistance game being the only things they got to point at and say "that". By the time the PS3 achieved some measure of parity with the 360 a few years in then I would maintain that everybody had forgotten about Motorstorm, hence the response to you when you mentioned bringing it back.

I would say Paul Greengrass has a lot to answer for, however the Bourne films were actually something I could follow quite happily even without the many years of skateboard videos before it. People imitating Paul Greengrass without having a clue what they are doing have a lot to answer for.
Anyway I am not sure I get your criticism/concerns of the scene there. The fast turns were pretty OK by me. The... slightly generous magazine sizes and selective accuracy got me more, even if by 90s standards that was top notch (they actually showed magazine changes which was practically unheard of outside of convenience for the story) and I have seen worse military or police shootouts as far as accuracy.

Given the voiceover in the trailer, expect a series of "Escape from ICE" DLC missions.

That's a large generalization from just a simple voice over. You sure the voiceover isn't the only reason you're finding a reason to jump to those conclusions?
