First of all, I am not sure if this was the right place to post this, so if it's in the wrong spot, please move it if you want.

So anyways, I just got my RCM Loader One in the mail today, I am just wondering, basically... What do I need to do, in order to get it working?

I am using Atmosphere on my Switch right now, and I have not turned off my switch since I modded it. But I would prefer to turn it off when I am not using it, instead of putting it into sleep mode... Hence why I bought the RCM Loader One.

So I just took the RCM Loader One out of the packaging, and I am very impressed with the device itself, and how compact it is.

What do I need to do, or where do I need to go from here, in order to get this RCM Loader One to be up to date, and to boot my switch into atmosphere whenever I turn it on with my RCM Loader?

Also, Where do I need to go from here, If I want my switch to AUTOMATICALLY boot into RCM mode every time I turn it on? So I don't accidentally turn it on one day, while its NOT in RCM mode, and then I end up on OFW wit ha bunch of homebrew and backups....

Thanks in advance! ;]

That device is meant to have payloads already on it. Before you plug it into your switch, press the button on it. The LED will blink. The color indicates which payload it is ready to send. (Blue for Atomosphere/ hekate)

To use it, just plug it in and then boot into RCM (volume up + power with pins shorted). It should do the rest.

Hekate has an AUTO-RCM that can be enabled from the menu.

You can enable Auto-RCM to always boot into RCM.
But this is something confusing for first use : it also reboot into RCM when you shutdown the console !

lot of users think the console is dead and doesn't boot anymore, but that's just an empty battery issue because you thought you shut it down, but it actually rebooted on black screen auto-rcm, where the battery drops faster.
The actual shutdown occurs on the RCM's payload (hekate or other payload can fully shutdown the console), or keep power button pressed 16 seconds.

OFF -> Power or reboot -> RCM -> Payload -> Horizon or shutdown command ? -> if not shutdown then launch Horizon. Once in horizon if you choose shutdown, it actually goes to "Power or reboot" step with the shutdown command for the payload.

either :
- never shutdown, always keep your console in horizon and just use sleepmode.
or
- re-launch hekate after choosing shutown to actually really shutdown the console and save the battery's power.

Thanks for the reply, but I happened to know this stuff already xD

I appreciate the help though. I was looking more in the terms of how do I get RCM loader to the latest frimware, and how do I get the newest version of Hekate and atmosphere on it. But someone messaged me and I figured it all out! Thanks so much though!

www.xkit.xyz to get the latest firmware.
Then as it been said just drag the payloads to the appropriate folder.
Whichever color light the leg is blinking correspond to the paoad it will push to the switch on RCM mode.

I think you're wrong about the system not powering off as of Atmosphere 0.8.4,

AtmosChangelog said:
  • Performing a shutdown from the reboot menu now works properly with AutoRCM, and does a real shutdown.

It will obviously power back on when you plug in a USB but if you power off with the USB in you will see it does not enter RCM. You have to tap power button to power it back on. :)

ohh, thanks for the info, I guess I missed that changelog :)

It was very welcome news as very occasionally i switch mine fully off. Have tested whilst keeping connected to pc and it doesn't enter RCM until i tap power button. :) Good way to save battery if you have a portable RCM payload method like Android or dongle!

I stopped using RCM Loader cuz it always needs to be charged. Unlike the NS Atmosphere it has an on&off switch so it always has battery. Any trick to the power on RCM Loader I don’t know about?

Depends on which version of the RCM Loader you have.

The RCMLoader Zero is run off of capacitors and needs to be charged up before every use, as capacitors by design only hold a charge for a short time after they are cut from a power source and will discharge afterwards. If you have a Zero model there isn't much you can do to improve the mandatory charge time.

The RCMLoader One uses a rechargeable battery that is good for roughly 1000 uses before it needs to be charged, and only needs an hour to fully charge. I plug mine in once a month to every other month depending on how often I end up using it, and I have only had the battery die once, and that was because I keep it in my carrying case and the + button got presses and held by something else which drained it. Under normal circumstances you should never have to worry about it dying. An Hour a month isn't a big charging obligation. If you have a One model and it doesn't hold a charge very well, the battery is probably fried and you should consider getting a new one. The internal battery can be changed but it probably costs the same if not more to get the new battery, then you have to open it without damaging the plastic housing and swap the battery. The One model isn't expensive enough to warrant such repair IMO.

Thanks yeah then definitely I have the Zero 😝
Best Rule of thumb is if it looks like an oversized flash drive with a circle shaped button, it's a Zero. It it looks like a short square with rounded corners and has a + shaped button, it's a One.
