HI all,

I've got a modded Xbox 360 Phat which can't connect to Xbox Live. After doing an offline update to the latest dashboard, I can no longer play OG Xbox games without another update.

My other 360, when I updated to the latest dashboard - downloaded a subsequent 6MB update before I was able to play OG Xbox games.

Is there a place online to find this 6MB update so that I can perform it offline though USB? I've been looking online and all I can find are updates to the latest dashboard, but not the subsequent 6MB backward compatibility update.

Thanks for any help.

It can't connect to Live anymore?
Have you considered RGHing it?

As for your question, does it have a HDD? if yes, is it a "genuine" microsoft one?

Thanks for the reply.

"Can't connect to live" more accurately put - it has been banned from connecting to XBLive.

I'd RGH it as a last resort, I've installed an MM3 on a PS1 before but the RGH process seems much more complex.

Yes it does have an HDD, yes, genuine Microsoft 20 GB.

I was able to find this update (can't post direct links yet): Xbox Game Support Updates

But I can't seem to figure out a way to install it through USB, nor am I sure it is the update I need. The dashboard update installed when I unzipped it to root of a USB, this doesn't seem to launch any sort of update when copied to USB.

EDIT: The only way I could get this update to run was copy it to the root of a USB, rename it "default.xex" and boot the system up with it. Unfortunately, it results in an E71 System Error Black Screen when I try to do this. Perhaps this is not the update required.

I'm certain there is an update required however as I upgraded my dashboard at the same time on my unmodded 360 and it downloaded an additional update from XBL after the dashboard update once an OG Xbox disc was inserted.

I have a tut on YouTube and all necessary downloads are in the download center here

Awesome, thank you. This looks like what I need. I downloaded the rar linked in your YouTube video.

Is there any way to install this without RGH enabled? I got this 360 second-hand, I don't think it is RGH'd, it has the original dashboard and everything.

What I've tried so far:

1. Unzipped Og Xbox hacked comp files/Compatibility to root of USB drive

Result - No effect

2. Unzipped Og Xbox hacked comp files/Compatibility to root of USB drive & Renamed xbox.xex to "default.xex"

Result: Black screen error, E71 upon bootup

there's a way to create partition 2 (xbox emulator), but I'm not sure if you can use the hacked compatibility files.

One more -

3. Copied the default.xex in /hdd_compat_partition_fixer_v1 & Media dir to root USB

Result: E71 Error

Ah I see, am I right to assume the compatibility files requires an RGH'd console for the ability to run unsigned code, or something of the like?

it's been a while since I've used a non official hdd, but you must create partition 2. I'm not sure if that's changed, but adding the folder won't work. I'm not sure if using the hacked files will work. I don't think I tried them back then, but that's before I had a jtag. I was using a pos xenon. :P

I believe the xbox compatibility files are within an update. rgh/jtag only update the flash without the hdd stuff. xbox, media, kinect, and avatar data are a part of the update file. if you look at an update, you should see an su file. afaik, that's the only file that's hacked for jtag/rgh. the other stuff is installed without that.
