Hi there!

With the current buzz of everyone rushing towards the new 7.X exploits a lot of questions arise for many people, including myself.

Perhaps it could be good to make a sticky somewhere saying what is known to work and what is known not to work as it seems the information varies on where one looks.

For example:

Is there a way to boot into CFW with 7.X? Yes, both Hekate and and Fusee-primary boot into CFW just fine. Have a look on SDSetup if you are confused on where to get started.
What does and doesn't run on 7.X (this is a question for me also)? This includes Homebrew, NSP (both already installed and new), XCIs and whatever else meets the call.
What "Most popular software/homebrew" works at this moment in time? For example Goldleaf, Appstore, Tinfoil, Edizon, etc etc

This way we can keep endless threads from popping up and perhaps make one big general knowledge base. This thread will quickly become obsolete as every piece of information becomes "self explanatory" but giving that it might take a few days (perhaps even weeks) to sort itself out, it could help a lot of people find their way as well as keep the forums cleaner.

What ya say?

...or just stay on 6.2. There is absolutely no reason to be on 7.X. Downgrading is a thing and the only reason a downgrade wouldn't work is because people aren't initializing their systems during the downgrade.

Well to be fair, many people have already upgraded (myself included) so "downgrading" is not really the point of this post. 7.0 is out there, it would be great if we could just gather all currently known information in a single post.

Except that at the pace we are moving, updating such a post is going to become tedious and eventually moot once everything is supported. In one day, we only had CFW and homebrew. The next day, we had support for backup launching. And while it was reported that normal .NSP installation was broken on 7.X, fixes are already being made what with Goldleaf's 0.5 imminent release.

I still believe its easier to just tell people to stay or downgrade to 6.2 as its far easier to troubleshoot on a firmware that is confirmed to work for everything then for a firmware which is evolving too fast for anyone to keep up with especially combined with other people making temporary packages for distribution or using alternative applications until more mainstream fixes are available.

Well this was more meant as an aid to help keep the main page here clean of endless questions. It was just an idea! Trying to be productive! :D

People may do with it as they wish, I'll just sit back and have to filter through more of the same endless posts to get to the good stuff, I guess.

That is fine, I was merely expressing my opinion. In fact, I did the same thing around the time firmware 6.0 was officially dropped (the honeypotted version of 6.0 made this situation more complex than it is now). However as time went on, updating stuff was becoming harder and harder and before you knew it, everything was perfectly supported on 6.0. So I was only sharing my own personal experiences with such a setup.

Most homebrew should work no problem. You must use DevMenu 6.x Definitive to install nsp files for the time being tho. I'm pretty sure one fork of tinfoil kinda works, but it's best to use DevMenu

rule #1 for all computer software and similar devices - never. Never. NEVER update unless you absolutely have to. Otherwise there may be unforeseen software compatibility issues.

SX Installer should work on other CFW to install NSPs.

I posted it on atmosphere regular post but tinfoil 0.2.1 works when having fs patches but the name of

the .nsp must not have special characters. 1.0.0 seems to work fine but sometimes the whole switch crashes

I replied to your thread use fluffy and usb install. If you want to install via SD card get tinfoil 1.0 which has similar features to SX installer.

I use the old method for USB Install, not SD install. Fluffly doesn't work for me (I guess due to 64-bit python)

The latest build of Goldleaf now works with 7.0/7.0.1. I installed a base game, dlc, and update with it as well as a custom nsp with no issues

Yeah, you are using the nightly version. I dont used 7.0.1 at all. Most younger teenagers and younger adults got to stop do that and stay with 6.2 until many apps are supporting. I have seen some older adults too. Tsk tsk.

Anyway, tinfoil 0.2.1 with October 2018 833 version worked just fine using the USB installed method. So no Goldleaf nightly are needed unless you like Goldleaf's Gui.

I am staying with 6.2.0 for now. If it ain't broken, dont fixed it. Why hurry ? Not necessary. SMH.

Can anyone confirm if the old tinfoil from Addubz works with SD install on 7.0 ? Not USB install. Thanks
