Hey there,

I often have to copy files from my computer to my Switch (running SXOS).
What is the fastest way ?

Before you rage here a few things first:
  • I'm programming homebrew with LovePotion, which packs all files into one game.NRO file (inclusive the LovePotion engine/interpreter).
  • This is why I can NOT have a external HDD. My files always come directly fresh build from my computer.
  • I always used the FTP-Server but I'm quite unhappy with the low speed .. never the less this is at the moment the best way to do the task for me ...
  • Perfect would be something like: "Connect the Switch via USB to my Windows-Laptop and Windows sees the switch as external hdd (yeah like with mobile-phones..)
  • I DO NOT want to switch my SD-Card from Console to PC and back all the time ! I know this would be maybe faster .. But NO!
  • I know there are emulators to test things directly on PC but I just want to test stuff directly on hardware.. it's just the better way in my opinion.

If you have any ideas please let me know. Because at the moment the game I work on is already 170mb big and not nearly finished.
So in short: It is a pain in the ass to test things on hardware. :P

Just in case you read this.. please think about this feature.. it would be super helpfull! <3

This isn't a perfect solution, but memloader can make the switch sd visible as a usb device, but it requires you to reboot the switch every time you want to use it because it's an rcm payload.

Also just to back up what you're saying. I actually had my micro SD module break off the motherboard. I had this switch since launch day and I've been constantly removing and re-inserting the SD for about two years now. Last month the connector for the SD card literally broke off the motherboard. I don't mean the modular SD reader came unplugged. I'm saying the component stayed plugged in and the end that is normally soldered to the mainboard broke off and stayed plugged into the modular sd reader.

Check out memloader v1 payload

As you said .. this is kind of annoying, too .. always having to restart suxx equal ways ^__^"
Oh man .. this should rly become a basic feature of SXOS in my oppinion..
I will never the less try it out and look whats faster .. the whole restart process or FTP-Slowness :)
Thanks ;)

UPDATE:
Well I tried it aaand .. meh .. I'm not very happy..
My Windows PC did not recognize the console right.. I mean it did recognize it, but I could not open the storage (SD Card).
But in the end it does not matter.. because the whole starting again, USB cable off, SXDongle in, reboot ... is just taking too much effort and time.
I would rather wait 4 minutes with easy going FTP then ..

But thanks for the answer anyways ;) It was worth the try.

Did you put ums_sd.ini in the root of your sd card and select it in the memloader menu?

You can also just use your pc to inject the memloader payload directly, no need to use SX dongle and navigate through the menu.

We're still waiting for this, but it should happen before too much longer. Some dev has supposedly got it working.
