I've just bought the SX OS license for my Switch. The console has the 4.0 firmware inside. The console tells me that I have to update the firmware to use this microSD, because it doesn't support microSDXC on FW 4.0.
When I insert the microSD in the Switch and inject the payload with the license on microSD, the console runs the SX OS boot menu. Then I press on "RUN CFW" but the console shuts down immediately. Could be a microSDXC problem? How can I update the console without run the CFW?

you need to either format it as fat32 or install update using nintendo official update or use other methods mentioned in forum that may cause other problems. my suggestion is to format it to fat32 until sxos becomes compatible with 6.2 firmware and then update it the official way and format sd card back to exfat.

So is there no way to update such a console to 6.0 OFW (or some other more recent version that is not the very latest 6.2)? I ask because I have the same problem as the OP-- I have a switch on firmware 4.0, so I need to get to a more recent hackable firmware, but don't want to go all the way to 6.2 since that is not hackable yet.

You can use ChoiDuJourNX and a firmware files you have to find yourself (backup your nand first!). I don't know if SXOS gives additional problems with that.

It doesn't. Find 6.1 firmware files, get ChoiDuJourNX, and select 6.1.0 (exfat) during the upgrade process, done.
You'll have to use another card for this of course, since it won't read yours for now.

@PEVOx Follow what @wurstpistole said. you should have no issues! If you want to remain on your current firmware, you can download that firmware> run ChoidujourNX> Select exFAT option during installation> (You don't have to enable autoRCM if you're not upgrading to a higher FW)> Profit!!
