Hacking Question Using different SXOS Dongle on a already SXOS activated Switch

Hi @All.
Situation: Switch 5.1. with activated online license SXOS 2 Weeks before.
I also ordered the SXPRO with the dongle, which arrived yesterday after 3 Weeks.

I assumed, I would have a separate license key in the package, but OnlineTrends stated,
that the license is embedded in the dongle.
First of all: Is this correct?
So technically I have 2 SXOS Licenses and 1 Switch.
What happens when I put in the dongle with the not activated license? Would I lose a license ?
I would like to sell the SXPRO in germany so I want to be sure, that there really is a license embedded in the dongle?

Hi, I was in the same situation.

1. Yes, the SX Pro license is embedded in the dongle.

2. There is no problem booting your switch with your already activated SX OS by the dongle. You wont loose the license until you activate another SX OS with the dongle inserted. Long story short, booting switches by the dongle and activating a SX OS by the embedded license are two seperate things.

So if I have 2 switches in the same household I have to purchase 2 dongles and 2 licenses? I don't mean to hijack the thread I just found this interesting.

You can share the dongle but you need separate licenses.

No. You purchase 1 dongle (has license) and 1 separate license. Activate the dongle on one Switch and the other license on the other.

I am in the same boat with 2 switches and one SX Pro dongle. Now if I go out of town without the dongle, and I reboot my modded Switch, do I have to wait until I have the dongle to reapply the mod?

Yes, once you reboot, you will need the dongle again, and the jig if you don't have AutoRCM activated.

If only they had one dedicated to the Switch! I was under the impression maxconsole was going to have the official support forum, but haven't seen it pop up yet.
