Hi all, I own 2 SanDisk microSD (verified both, they're not fake): one is 64GB and the other one is 200GB.
I've both formatted them with guiformat with 4096 allocation unit size cause my switch has no support for exFat yet.
The problem is that the smaller card loads up the game way faster than the 200 GB one. It can require up to 10 seconds for a small game and about a minute for big games as zelda.
Can you help me?

I have noticed too that FAT32 loads slower than exFAT. With exfat it's almost instant. So .. if you want a quick workaround, try to update with exfat support?

how full is your 200gb card? I think the less free space there is the longer it takes.

Well I already tested 3 Sandisk Ultra A1 128GB and they all had speed problems, you might be getting it too and they were all manufactured in 2018...

Basically 1 M-SD, after moving some files to it, it got locked to ~20MB\s 4 ever while before moving any file it was giving ~80MB\s read. I quick formatted it to NTFS, eXfat and even fat 32 and nothing fixed it, not even a full complete format to Exfat 128KB...

2nd and 3rd replacementes had the same exact problem except every time I taken them out of my laptop SD port reader and put them back again they go back to full speed of ~80MB\s, but again after writing a few files they get again locked at ~20MB\s read until I remove them from the laptop, wait a bit and put them back again, but after a few things are written, locked to 20 again...

ps: Ended up paying more for a super slow crap Toshiba 128GB, however at least the speed is always normal no matter if I write files or not, but the IOPS are very miserable compared to the Sandisk A1 so app loading with too many files will be quite slow too ;).

Just update your switch so you can have exFat support for your cards, it's much better in the long run. Also, you won't have to break up the XCI files whenever you load them. Just update the switch bro!

I'm reviving this thread cause I found a solution to the problem. Now small games just take 2-3 sec to load and big games like bayonetta 2 take 10 seconds instead of a minute.
When I formatted my microSD with guiformat the first time I selected 4096 as allocation unit size. To speed up loading what you have to do is choose 32768.
I've tried with 65536 but this way sx os just loads games that are not splitted.

You really should just install big games like that onto your Switch

Helps with loading times and frees up space for other games on your SD card
