xcuse the fuck is saying????
*sigh* Okay, okay...while I seriously doubt you'll even register what I'm about to say, here are the given arguments against steam:
-it takes up half a gigabyte on installation
-updates itself every couple days
-it's DRM
-it throws up commercials of games every time you open it
-it's an unnecessary dependency that runs in the background, delaying game start and clogging up memory (note: only an issue on low-end specs)
Heck, I'll throw in another that's seriously bugging me at the moment:
-you can have a friend play a game on your account, but you can't play a different game at that same time
Yes, I know: it often has amazing deals in the form of summer/winter/whatever sales and bundles, is a massive platform that's both good and convenient for both gamers and developers and has an immense community. None of those, however, change the fact that these arguments exist and are valid. Suggesting there's something wrong with you if you want to avoid steam is just stupid, as steam itself was, is and always shall be just a means to an end, not the end goal itself. We both know that there are plenty of video games out there that aren't on steam*, and the gamers on those platforms couldn't care less.
*console gamers, mobile gamers, people who prefer blizzard or EA's recent titles, a whole army of indie gamers...there's plenty. Just because steam is the largest online shop doesn't mean that the games on it are better or worse than others.
