I am not surprised that it uses USB for power (it's a low power device), the question is if it allows data transfer like it did with the NES Mini.
The HDMI and USB are also in the exact location and configuration as the NES Classic, lending to the possibility it's the same exact hardware inside, thus making a "Super Hakchi" a possibility.

Well let's hope so and let's see if I can score a unit. They did move the controller ports though, so it's not just a NES Mini with a different case. EDIT : I just realized that the controller ports are connected with a little ribbon cable.

Right, while the USB and HDMI are built into the board.

I can't really see any games I'd want to add to it to be Honest, it won't fit a full snes library so pretty pointless.

Nintendo thinks they're being clever, preventing us from pirating by including all the games we would want to play from the get-go.

Plus it might be limited to the 21 games due to storage size already...

That's my thought about the number of games included. It would have made sense to include another 30 like on the NES mini, but game sizes being higher on SNES and them using the same internals as the NES mini to cut costs might be the real reason for that number of games. Starfox 2 might be a big game.

I happy with the games that are coming out on the SNES classic Edition but they should have kept the amount of games to 30, or 31 (If you include Star Fox 2)

No way is there only room for 21 games. I don't think it's even possible to find flash memory that small anymore. It will likely be the same 512MB as on the NES Classic with about ~300 free for additional ROMs.

I don't care if they only put in 21 if they left a handy backdoor to easily add more.

how do you get doki doki panic to run on the default emulator ? I have it going on FCEumm right now....not sure why....

Default Emulator, do not compress the game. Just add it, as is, and do not touch the command line. The ones I have played have run great via FCEUMM, however.

But SNES games are bigger than NES ones. I can imagine them leaving free space there, but maybe it is not as much as 300 MB

I have over 75 SNES games on my system besides about 100 NES games, 25 GB/GBC games and 1 N64 game with enough room to spare for saves. SNES games are bigger but you can put a lot on 300 mb. I have room for a whole lot more games but I only put games on my system that I actually want to play.

Yes that is on the NES Mini, we will have to see how much free space will be available on the SNES Mini and if it is hackable in the first place. With some exceptions most SNES games vary between 512kb to 3mb in my experience, so if 300mb is the amount of free space we are going to get, you have quite some room to work with.

And how do the SNES games play on the NES mini? Any frame rate drops or something off? It shouldn't be with the processor but wondering.

The only games that have minor frame drops are games that rely on the SFX chip (with newer hmods barely noticeable). So about five games with minor issues, the rest runs perfectly (as much as emulation goes). You do need a Wii Classic Controller in order to play SNES games because with the stock controller you don't have enough buttons. In reality the only two games that do rely on the SFX chip and people care about are Star Fox and Yoshi's Island and they are very playable. If you haven't played those games on original hardware before I would be surprised if you would even notice that the emulation isn't 100% spot on. The good news is that those games are on the new SNES Mini and I assume that emulation for them would be somewhat better then it is now on the NES mini. If it turns out that the new SNES Mini isn't hackable I wont be that sad because I can play all the other games through RetroArch on NES Mini. For me is it all about those sweet new controllers :)

Here's me hoping that the console is hackable. I did not buy the NES mini as I had those games in other platforms but I pre purchased the SNES mini and I hope it is good with those games that need SFX chip. Plus I also like the SNES controllers way more than the NES ones. Oh well, time will tell.

The 21 SNES ROMs that come loaded should take up about 50MB.

It just does.... All three FDS games I included work great on kachikachi, and save states work with no problem. I just added them as I would a .nes ROM. It's uncompressed, of course.
So, I shouldn't need to use --retroarch --core fceumm or /bin/nes in the command line ? It will work with the default emulator ?

Without using retroarch and fceumm, how do I get the Doki Doki Panic to flip sides of the disc to play the game ?
