Oh my, that's hot.
How do you setup a lone RA app for it to load the playlists for the cores?

The RA app itself auto-detects the core as long as it's assigned in the playlist, it doesn't matter what you load initially.

Edit: Wait, maybe I was thinking something else, my bad.

there's a tool on the libretro forums called playlists buddy (or something like that) that scans your rom folder on PC and make the playlists for you :)

You need the assets folder from the PC version? Does it have the quirk when loading the app via Haxchi + CBHC then the launcher?
No quirks here, but I load through CBHC.

I initially reported a glitch when using the Haxchi + CFW boot method (loading console first, then that, then HBL), and it created issues with 1.5.0 and beyond, but 1.4.1 works fine. The bug report was in vain as no one could reproduce it, it's weird, but if I encounter it again, I'll be sure to record it :P

Oddly enough, loading it via normal Haxchi + CFW (with holding B to enter HBL via Haxchi), it works fine, but you sacrifice CFW and faster loading, it's bizarre and I seemingly the only one with that issue.

I remember I had some issues with the 3DS version because I onlyuse a certain set of cores and not all of them.
Would only having certain cores affect running the RA app by itself?

No, it shouldn't (I remove cores that I don't use, and the app itself works just fine. What I'm talking about is a conflict with RA versions 1.5.0 and beyond, when used in conjunction with Haxchi + CFW, then subsequently loading the HBL, RA will run fine for the first time. But exiting and trying again will result in a system memory error, forcing a reboot. I've reproduced it many times, but using just normal Haxchi, (no CFW), it loads fine, but is a helluva lot slower, for whatever reason. I tried to report this but it was a waste of time. Next time I encounter it, I'll video capture it on my camera.

Alright, alright. I'll start working on it when I can.
Exams are this week (didn't expect this to happen so fast!) so it might be slow going while that's happening, but it does mean I've got lots of time for reading the code and trying to decide how I'm going to implement this cleanly. Anyway yeah, I'll start working on that when I can.

@aliaspider All good to stick everything under wiiu/system/? I think this is more PowerPC-specific than Wii U-specific but there really isn't a better spot from what I can tell...

wiiu is finaly getting some attention again xD, even with psx dynarec being 200$ i still dont see anyone picking it up sadly, maybe we need to spread the word since the bounty is well hidden.

Believe me, I tried to inquire about that out on GitHub, about relocating the bounty to the the proper page, but it hasn't happened.

Should be in the list here:

https://www.bountysource.com/teams/libretro/bounties

But for one reason or another, hasn't been yet.

Edit: Added bounty URL to sig :P

Ok Iv'e had a good chance to mess around around with the new Menu and I have to say I wont be going back to the old GUI again :)
From what I can tell:
XMB works (obviously) lol
Cheats work
ScreenShots work
Thumbnails work
Content Scanning works (I think, I already had my playlists set.) :)

There are a few issues tho.. (tiny issues) ;)
The glui Menu doesn't display correctly (not really a big issue for me since I plan on using The XMB menu for life) lol
Cant find how to get Overlays to work (probably just not added yet)
There's a weird effect when scrolling left to right in the XMB Menu (scrolling up and down is fine)
I cant change the Colour of the Menu Theme in the XMB Menu Settings (stays the Default Red Colour)

Apart from that I'm REALLY happy with the way Retroarch runs on the WiiU now. Plus it would be nice to have a few missing Cores added to the list too ;)

Thanks @aliaspider and thanks Retroarch..

I had a quick fiddle with the latest version as well, and came up with a few minor things:

Fading in XMB doesn't work quite right; which is the reason behind the weirder left-right stuff imho.
Shadows work fine for text, but not for image assets (they are not coloured black) which has a strange effect when using transparency-heavy icons like those in Monochrome.
I couldn't get the scanner to work at all, both with and without iosuhax. I copied the databased over from my PC install and tried it on some SNES games.
This is probably the videophile side of me coming out; but there's some very odd stuff going on with the Gamepad video scaling that looks very "scaled x264" if you know what I mean. There's probably not much to be done about this one, however; (does RetroArch support split scaling for multiple monitors?) and the Gamepad's low bitrate kinda ruins Mode 7 SNES games anyway (play F-Zero and pay attention to the gray dirt at the side of the road. C'mon, Nintendo!)

That said, XMB support like this is damn impressive; and we're really only shadows and animated backgrounds away from having a menu as impressive as the one on PC. Awesome stuff!

@aliaspider I thought I'd start fiddling early to get dynamic loading into gear, but I wasn't able to make a working snes9x for testing. It compiled without worry, but I couldn't run it on the Wii U at all (blackscreen as both ELF and RPX). Any ideas? I haven't changed any code, so it's got to be something in my toolchain...

@QuarkTheAwesome did you compile libiosuhax with "make wut"?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Does HID to vPad support mean that now I can play with my Madcatz SFIV Arcade Stick xbox 360 or do I need some kind of adapter?
For XInput devices you need the NetworkClient
Simply run the jar, enter the IP of the WiiU, and click on connect once retroarch has started
