I had a few BLs and a spliff, and got to thinking, and now am on to ranting...

I'm looking for a good rpg to play. Good being my own definition of good of course. The rpgs that I have enjoyed the most have always had a really great story, but relied less on battle and experience points. I keep trying to play through FF3 on DS, but don't really enjoy it. I thought about playing FF7 or Chrono Trigger again, both of which I loved because of the great story, but would rather play something new. So, can anyone recommend a good rpg style game with a great story? Any system, I pretty much have them all, or emulators. Thanks!

Dreamweb (DOS) is pretty good, I also liked Contact.

(God of Thunder if you want to pull your nuts off over extremely difficult puzzles) DOS

I'm playing Ico right now (I kinda forgot that I bought it, because my ps2 broke the day I got it (fixed it yesterday though)). What are some good Genesis rpgs?

You'd probably like Xenogears, you should check it out.

As for genesis RPG's, Shining in the Darkness and Phantasy Star IV are some good ones. If you're into Strategy RPG's, check out Shining Force 1 & 2.

If you have a good PC:

Oblivion
Gothic 3
Two Worlds

Gothic 3 and Two Worlds are kinda fakers of Oblivion, but they are very good fakers

I agree with shadowboy. Also Chrono Cross for ps1 is good if you dont want it to rely too much on experience points and stuff, and you can avoid monsters, something I found amusing instead of having them pop up every x number of steps.

Try your hand at Snes emulation
The snes owned for great Rpg's, seiken series, Star ocean, Tales of phantasia (a must play, its that good IMHO) etc.
Ps1 and Ps2 have great Rpg's too, Kingdom hearts, Final fantasy and many more
Just look at official game sites RPG section, look at a couple you find interesting, Research the ones you know you want and get it

Well, im quite addicted to Tales of the Abyss (ps2) lately, really nice story, sometime you can see what's going to happen, but majors punches works fine. Battle system is the best in the series (very close to Symphonia). Characters are awsome(well Anise is anoying but well... and Luke could be less emo =P).

Disgeae is an awsome serie.

If you have never played it, you should absolutely play Super Mario RPG on the SNES, as well as Paper Mario on the N64 and Paper Mario 2 on GCN, and then Mario and Luigi 1 and 2 on GBA and DS respectively. They may not be difficult, but you will have just an absolute blast playing them.
