So, whats the crack with Harvest Moon DS

All I know about the Harvest Moon games is that you have to do farming or something.

Is it worth trying, is it any good???

Bear in mind that although I tried Animal Crossing, ultimatly I thought it was a big waste of time and energy, so if its out like that, I wont be interested.

Well, I did play several, but except for the snes version I didn't play them really trough.

It's a farming RPG with some side quests and some sort of storyline.

You can have a family too if I remember correct.

Yeah its a pretty much fun game, but i felt that it was worse than the gba title, which btw had the exactly same graphics. Didn't feel right.. still played one in-game year. So try it out for sure.

This game is probably the worst Harvest Moon in the series

Stick to the GBA one, or wait for the new DS one (which is already out in Japan and is based off the excellent Magical Melody).

Here's your number one HM fan with the lowdown on this game. It's bad. Real bad. The series, HM, is a great one. It is nothing like animal crossing. It's far better in fact. But this game is rubbish of the most foul. It is loosely based on the previously worst HM game of all time, HM: A Wonderful Life on the GCN. Bad start. And then it goes even further. Picking weeds rather than using the sickle = littering = everyone hates you? That's just stupid. If you've never played HM and you want to try some good ones in the series, pick up the original SNES one, the highly enjoyable N64 one, or the arguably best (but easiest, sadly) of the series, Magical Melody on GCN.

Please do not play this game unless you are a hardcore HM fan that could enjoy the few good things about it. Those few good things being the H and the M in the title. ;D

Ugh, I have played every Harvest Moon game to death, obsessed over every game, ran various fan sites, I know these damn games inside and out. Harvest Moon DS really is one of the best Harvest Moon games. It perfects the 2D HM formula. The only thing you can really knock it for is its graphics (you're playing HM, why do you give a shit?) and its plethora of glitches that really aren't TOO intrusive.

Amazing game that I feel deserves way more credit. Better than Mineral Town and HM64 (Extremely overrated) and HM SNES (Which I also find atrociously overrated).

Why everyone hates on HM DS, I have no idea. But I feel it doesn't deserve the hate at all.

I rather liked the DS version myself; so if anything it's way better than the Wonderful Life on the Gamecube & PS2 which weren't all that hot to begin with. Forced into marriage & bad controls made those two games the worst in my opinion. Though I closest I'll come to the SNES version is emulation.

Though my experience was the North American release; I do actually give it a chance to redeem itself with probably being a nice incarnation for the time it was originally released. As well don't' write the 2d games off yet; as that was probably why they wanted to have the little enhancement with the two GBA games, adding more possible wives as well as other stuff.

So its like WoW ? =)

Anyway i played the Friends of Mineral Town alot on the GBA.. and really liked it, this reminds me alot about that game.. and it is to me just as fun as that, and i also played the NGC version A Wonderful life (that this seems to be based of) and i could not for my life understand how ppl can find it addictive, just watering plants takes FOREVER and in this you can do it pretty quick from the first time you do it, but i would like to see a game like this on the Wii.. that could actually be a really cool...

anyway back on topic.. give the game a try.. and then i mean more then 10-20 minutes
