Hello tempers!
At the request of the original poster of the GBAtemp Band thread (good ol' tshu,) I've created this here thread as a clearing house for sound files and continued ideas that concern the yet to be named GBAtemp Band...
I'll be adding the sound files to this initial post as they come in. Please see tshu's original post for fledgling ideas and witty banter. Feel free to let me know if I screw anything up.

@ RayorDragonFall: I'm having no luck with Takeshi's link either. I didn't download them, so can't mirror... oopsie.. We'll get it straight soon.

@ Mehdi: renaming yours to untitled.. was just going by filename there. Of course you're in it with us. We can have more than one tune going at a time. In fact, I took a stab at yours last night, but was having technical problems and it didn't come out that great.

@ everybody: If you need some software to record with, download Audacity, it's a cross-plastform, multi-track, open-source (free) audio recorder/editor.

Sorry for the links guys. I was pretty wasted when I did this last night. You'll find the good ones below.

Wow, so little time, so much work done, and it sounds fabulous!

Keep up the great work!

I'm fooling around with some of these songs to see if I can improve on any of them.

*TOP POST UPDATED*

Things are going well, but the sync gets a little off during the tom-heavy section.. I can probably get into audacity with the solo tracks and slip things around a bit. I'll give that a shot tonight when I get some time, again, unless someone beats me to it.

@mash: Sounds awesome now dude!

@mthrnite: I think it's my fault that it gets off sync in that part of the song. Maybe I need to do it again (maybe only that part, if it's possible to edit it in so nobody would know about). I'm visiting my girlfriend now, but maybe I can look into this when I'm back home on sunday.

@mehdi: We've got no lyrics for now, but feel free to write some.

Well, I'm gonna get a little creative in Audacity tonight, do a little slippin' and slidin', you know, kinda tighten things up with some cut'n paste and mebbe a little tempo fiddlin'. Not because it sounds bad, just because I love doin' that crap. If it sounds bad, no loss, if it sounds good, I'll post it up and you can see what you think.

Ok, I went in and tightened everything up a bit (see top post under song one mixdowns.) I'd still like to work a little more on it, but I'm starting to think we can get a rough mix down and then re-do it all to perfection when the thing's completely fleshed-out.

I also started writing lyrics and even began a synth part
ph34r.gif
but it's really late and I've gotta be up early tomorrow so I can't finish 'em. So for now, take a listen to the mp3 I posted up (just a few tweaks, really) and I'll get back to this in earnest either tomorrow or Sunday night.

This is getting a little exciting... This thing might just fly Orville!

aaaaaaa

It hurts your ears when wearing headphones. Not that the melody is bad but, please only make 1 guitar track on one channel, and make it a bit quieter. The main guitar piece should be on both channels

Sounding pretty good so far! I listened to all of the single tracks and Mthrnite's mix of everything, and all of the tracks seem pretty nice. A couple things of note, though:
In Mthr's mix, about 5 seconds into the song the main guitar is a little out of synch. This gets fixed later on, but it just doesn't sound right.
Verocity's drum track kinda sounds to me like something he made artifically. And anyway, the sound doesn't seem "heavy" enough to me. Maybe I'm just jaded from listening to my dad play (Because when he play, it has a very heavy sound and is very, very loud).
Otherwise, it's all good!

I wish I could contribute, but all I can really play is the cello. I am going to start the electric guitar (I would play electric bass as well but I don't have a bass >.>). But even then I'll probably suck too much to be any use to this band for some months.

Anyway, keep up the good work! (and all that)

I wanna re-emphasize, especially after hearing Mewgia plays the cello (
wub.gif
)...
..if anybody wants to throw up absolutely anything.. DO!

So if, say, you wanna throw some weird synth samples up... as long as you don't mind anybody scarfing it and bending it and using it in something else.. doit doit doit. Some things'll flop, and some'll fly.. as long as we can keep this open sourcy there's no need to be shy.

I know I'm just begging for a logistics nightmare, but damn the torpedoes - full speed ahead! (Actually, a Wiki might not be a bad idea on that front.. hmm...) I'll add a "parts drawer" on the top post if need be, as well as adding more fully formed stuff as a separate "song" leg.

Also, check out Audacity.. it's not a hard program to learn, and you can do most everything you need to with it, from recording to editing to effecting parts, etc.. and it is free!

I'll have a lot more time in a couple of days.. and I'll throw in another drum skeleton or two for people to play with...

One more thing... feel free to discuss band names and draw cool logos... at some point we'll need those too!

..and keep the constructive criticism coming as well.
