We have now gone over pretty much every possible store within a 30-minute radius of my house with no luck. 9.4 is still as low as it gets.

Since it seems I'll be having to lean on Sky3DS for now, can anyone recommend a safe, legit store to buy it from and get it shipped to the USA? Half the links in the list I found were no longer operating and most of the others looked really shady.
For the US and a SKY3DS card peachds all the way.

Unfortunately for me, I'm not going to be able to convince my friend to buy one off of eBay, especially after the trouble he had with a couple of orders he placed through them back on Christmas. I'm pushing my luck enough as it is by trying to get him to go all over town with me looking for one locally. All he gives a crap about is getting this over with so that I can open the copy of MH4U he bought and start playing.

And thanks for the store recommendation! I'll take a look once we get back from our last attempt at searching today.

Check your local pawn shops. The one I live near sometimes posts on craigslist, and they happened to have one that was like new and 9.2. Can knock a couple a bucks off for the price, and inspect them yourself to see if they're the right version.

And no dice, even after including what few pawn shops exist out here. 9.4 it is, 9.4 it shall be.

Even after showing him that he could easily buy the right version off of eBay from people with very positive feedback, he wouldn't budge. Makes me pretty angry and a little depressed but I guess beggars can't be choosers.

Thanks for trying to help me out, folks.

If you're in the US the most reliable seller I've dealt with is peachds. I hear eachmall ain't bad but their delivery time is apparently bad since they aren't local. modchipdirect or something is a gbatemp sponsor so it might be a bit more expensive but supports the community.

Sky3DS is on the way. I guess that's about the only way to make the best out of this situation.

Unless I'm mistaken, I should grab a micro SD card for the cart itself, yes? On that note, is there a recommended speed for cards used in a Sky3DS? How about the N3DS XL itself? Considering the release timing, I would imagine that they would support at least class 10 speeds. Is that their ceiling?

Also, up to what capacity cards do they support?

Always get the best class micro SD that you can get. They'll definitely work. They should support 128gb micro SD, if you really want to download that many games. :P

With Sky3DS, you don't get a menu to select a particular game. You have to manually cycle through each rom until you find the proper one (each rom takes 3 to 5 seconds to load).

I would recommend you to get a 32 Gb MicroSD for your internal N3DS and a 32 Gb MicroSD for your Sky3DS.

SanDisk Class 10 Ultra will do just fine :) Just make sure they're original :)

It was the holidays, things get crazy around that time. What can you expect? Situations never go right.

A quick search leaves a couple of http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Class-Memory-SR32UY2A-TQ/dp/B00X1404DA looking like what I will order as soon as I get home today. Anyone have any bad experiences with those cards, or will they be safe purchases for this purpose?
That card is a good bet. The reviews state the same too. You should definitely get that. Also, if you want to use homebrew on 9.8, you can use Ninjhax 2.0 which releases in a couple of days, so when you get your Sky3ds, download cubic ninja and enjoy all the emulators and games you want. :)

Wait, really? I thought I was completely screwed out of homebrew by not being able to find a 9.2. So I can go find this Cubic Ninja game somewhere and I will otherwise be set for this thing coming down the line soon?

Pretty much. You can just download Cubic Ninja on your sky3ds and enjoy all the games and homebrew you like.

do we have details on Ninjhax 2.0 now? Last I heard we only knew it was limited access (but then I haven't be following for a few weeks)

@smealum has been talking about it more on his twitter. I'm not sure about the exact limitations, but you can still do a lot with it. For example, all those emulators and tools should work. In fact, I've heard that Ninjhax 2.0 is actually a little better than Ninjhax 1.1b, too. (In some aspects, we don't have it so we don't know. I'll ask Smea what the specifics are)
