Misc Streetpass SSiD wont work

Hi,

I am having problems getting the streetpass relay/SSiD to work on a friends modem.
At my own home i just changed the SSiD to _The Cloud and i recieve streetpass Mii's, but at my friends house it wont work.

Here is some relevant data:

My modem:
Cisco EPC3925
changed SSiD to _The Cloud
did not change mac adress or spoofing
Works 100%

Friends modem:
Thompson TWG870U
changed the SSiD to _The Cloud
the Nintendo Zone icon seems to connect
but no streetpass data, no green led
removed the WPA2
no luck
spoofed mac to some in the known lists with attwifi ssid
no luck

Does anyone have any suggestions on why this wont work or get it to work ?

Sorry didnt mentioned that SSID, but also tried that one on the Thompson

Could be the Thompson.

I know my D-link 615 (version c1) works for home-pass after I flashed it with DD-WRT, but a D-link 605 (hardware version B) I tried wouldn't (plus the DD-WRT software wasn't yet available to flash onto a D-link 605b).

I've a Cisco ae2500 usb-wifi plug, along with a NETIS and a RETAIL PLUS, and my 3ds would get the ZONE but wouldn't get the MII data.

In some cases, you may need to set it to only use b-net or b/g-net types, cause for some odd reason, the newest (n-type) will allow the ZONE but not MII data (depending on OS/software/hardware). 3ds can be kind of glitchy that way.

In other cases, if you're OS in windows XP, even if its updated with Service Pack 3 (or even SP4), you might not be able to get the mii-data through a usb-wifi dongle. (XP doesn't really support hosted networks, and most of the free-ware/share-ware that says it can do a virtual hosted-net for XP either can't, or doesn't, support the exact needed commands needed to setup and allow the mii-data.)

IF ALL ELSE FAILS, all I can say is find out what wireless routers are available at your local store, write them down (including model number and hardware version) and compare then to the KNOWN COMPATIBLE ROUTERS list on the DD-WRT site. Then buy whatever is cheapest. (my d-link 615-vers-c1 was $30 Canadian, marked down to $18 on sale, then further marked down to $12 because it had been bought and returned).

Even with my d-link 615 vers-c1, I have to use the DD-WRT program's "clone mac" function, and manually enter each mac, then wait a few seconds for it to adjust. Then I open my 3ds, wait 3 seconds, close it, wait 3 seconds, open the 3ds, wait 3 seconds, close 3ds, wait 10 seconds, and then I'll see the router flash that its connecting to something and sending data. Then I have to wait about 8 to 15 seconds before the send-receive light starts flashing again, and then about 5 seconds after that the green-light on my 3ds will start going.

Thanks for this usefull info.
I will see what i can do, was trying to setup a relay on a vista machine still working on that part.
and maybe i have to set the WiFi to B instead of B/G.
great tips ill keep you informed if anything changes

I changed the signal to B instead of B/G and it seems to work now.
