Just to be sure, can you still lose your save files like in 2.01b or have they fixed this?

Well, hard to say with a 100% certainty.

At least it hasn't happened to me again despite me trying to provoke it (exiting straight after doing the ingame save multiple times)

Just since people were able to use the GW 20b1 launcher on and R4i deluxe (like me) to get to the eshop when it was on 6.3....
So at this point, can I

1.Put on the 0b2 launcher on my R4i card, update the emunand to 7.1
2. Go to eshop and buy some games
3. back up the nand and save a copy to my PC
4. Replace the GW launcher with the R4i 3.0 launcher back and have everything work fine? (eshop games working)

Or 5. Stop being impatient and wait for R4 team to rip off the latest GW fw and re-release it to us clone users? :-P

Is there any way to play my Pokemon X copy (Retail) with the save file that was made on an other system? (The other 3DS had 7.X FW)

cool but i'll still waiting for compatibility with 6.1 sysnand, and we're not getting any beta untill the real 2.0 releases

Well, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a 6.1 exploit, which would be a requirement for a 6.1 compatible beta.

Somehow i doubt this will work but just try it.
Do a backup, swap the launcher (on the SD, not the r4i), do the emunand update (observing the usual safety precautions), download a demo from the eshop, (although its really unlikely to work try to run a game from the r4i,) swap the launcher back, try if anything still works.

My gut tells me it will fail horribly, but as long as you know what you are doing you can't mess anything up permanently besides updating your sysnand which can't happen because the initial assumption was that you know what you are doing. Logic is fun whilst being high on mulled wine.

Personally I'd stick with option 5.

None as of now. Might be in the (perhaps even near) future, but it's a two bladed sword, as that would make saves that were done on the current system unloadable. Unless someone finds a way to convert them somehow.

You could do a system transfer to the new 3DS and it should let you load your saves. You can system transfer to EmuNAND with 2.0b.

Do not do this! This will corrupt your old save, system transfer won't change a thing about that. The way emuNAND creates saves is different from the normal 7.x, 6.x OFW way, and this is how it will always be unless the 3DS' keyY can be decrypted.
What might actually help is this here:
http://translate.google.de/translat...slite-zubehor/193-neo-sms2-backup-master.html
and this program:
http://filetrip.net/3ds-downloads/u...-master-backup-3ds-roms-saves-121-f25487.html
I have no idea though if the extracted savegame would be compatible with gateway saves.

Keep in mind that there's just the possibility that it could help, no guarantee. The easiest way (although not the best) would be to trade your irreplacable pokémon to someone else's game and get them back later when you've started a new save on your 4.x 3DS.

Well I did a system transfer from my old 3DS to my emunand and after copying the 3DS folder from my old SD card, my eshop pokemon game works fine and the save is still there... I am not 100% sure why it wouldn't work with cartridge games also but who knows.

It's so simple... the save of the cartridge is not dependent of the 3DS data.

Does emunand 7.1 allow us to use online features with no worry of accidental update of sysnand? Can we use the gateway and online at the same time?

Sort of.....you can not do online play of games with gateway with or without Emunand.......Emunand does give you eShop, Mivverse and up to date patches. If I game has spot/street pass features or local play they usually work with Gateway. If you run EmuNand in classic mode and use a retail game cartridge then online features generally work (I can only confirm Pokemon which I am playing this way and it works). From what I have heard people have bought dlc for games like Fire Emblem using the game on Gateway.....Also if you buy a game from the eShop on your Emunand system then again the online features are going to work.

So despite what anyone is saying EmuNand is quite an accomplishment. The fact Gateway got it working with 7.1 so quick after their 6.3 beta is a good sign. The new beta appears to be far more stable launching the EmuNand and dealing with game saving. The reason roms run on Gateway can't play online is because they have a unique ID, or should....but every Gateway player would look the same to this system which aint gonna work......Gateway has to find a way to randomize/spoof the cartridge ID to ever get online working for roms. I'd say if you really want to play a game online (like Pokemon) then just buy it and use the Gateway to play the dozens of other great games you might have missed.

If I'm on a firmware greater than 4.5 should I even bother holing out for firmware 6.X support? Has there been any indication that anything will be supported in the future?
