it started loooong long time ago (hrth had its brth in 2006), in the "testing area" of GBAtemp (when it was actually used as testing purpose. It's now the End of Forum used for ... I don't want to know what it's used for!)
Users posted things there to test avatars, smileys, bbcodes, etc.
One user posted random letters "hrth" to test his avatar. everybody replied to him "hrth" too.

I have been here since '06 myself... however my post count is so low that it still says I am just a "new member".

slightly over 9 years here :) I did visit this site frequently before that though, and I still remember that I was here writing when Mega Man Battle Network 2 (European or US release, can't remember) was released... But that was before I signed up obviously. So maybe I don't remember right... I might mix it up with the IRC channel. Was at least lurking back then ^^

Soooo... yeah. Here's one more who remember Puck, Lude and Luse :D

I still haven't figured out what hrth means. Could someone explain?

If someone explained hrth it would ruin it.

Someone, the name is lost to time, made an actual testing topic one day (back when we had the testing area and not the edge of the forum) and hrth was the content. For reasons unknown it caught on and took over the site.

That or we all like hormone replacement therapy.

Checks.... seems I have been wasting time on GBAtemp for quite a while now, better GBAtemp than being on myspace, facebook, youtube, G+, twitter or whatever the kids are using this week I guess (true story -- I had ytmnd and tumblr down as the same thing in my head until about 48 hours ago). Probably less good is GBAtemp is also my main source for game news and whatever might be happening in the world that is not tech or science.
I had lurked for a whole lot longer but I mainly signed up as traffic was high and sign up was made mandatory for a day or two. I have never had a definitive answer but I still hold I was quite possibly the first to do it (was browsing and then all of a sudden it was sign up to view), took me lot longer to start posting though.

In other news I read the title as

"Approaching soon a to be 10 year old GBATemp member".
Soooo... yeah. Here's one more who remember Puck, Lude and Luse :D
Puck, Luse and Ruth?

I wouldn't consider myself a newbie, but I never knew this. This feels like such an epiphany (or something similar, not sure of the word).

That is an awesome achievement, I lurked back around 2005 but joined up in 07'. It would be cool to go back to a snapshot of the temp back then.

So one more month to go until Ive been around here for 10 years. I cant even remember that far back! Suppose I should really grow up a bit and get out of all this gaming lark!

Nah!

Are there many active members still kicking around from 2002/2003 I wonder?

I will trademark this one day, I think im missing out on royalties! :hrth::hrth: :hrth:

Anyone still have one of the cups this was printed on? lol

10 years is quite a long time, I haven't been here for even A Year! Congrats. :)

Blah. 3 of my NSO + Expansion Pass family group members are leaving. Found one replacement so far but still need to fill two empty slots. I have 9 days or i eat the extra cost myself. But with a full group $11 for a year is a good deal. imo
