Why do you prefer the 249 version of wiiflow over the 224 then? Just curious.
249,250 is tons faster than 222,223,224 in wiiflow. This is because there are various parts of code that have to sleep to allow hermes based ios's enough time to load certain modules. Also, while we are on the speed subject, *.wbfs also runs faster than *.iso.

Now, I will def. point out that this is from July 3, so that's maaaaany many revisions ago and I expect everything is running a lot smoother for the Hermes based stuff, since you're running it nice and smooth. Anywho, that's why I stuck with 249, mugotu recommended it (at the time) and I haven't found a need to change from it.
Mugotu is still right, but you have to combine this knowledge with the fact that we prefer rev19. The reason is that rev19 is smoother than rev20b. I don't know why that is, it's just a fact.

I do have to say that the performance on Hermes is also very good. The delays Mugotu mentions are only when loading ios, or reloading ios. It's not something done every second, or every few seconds. That's why you will hardly notice any performance difference just looking at that.

Do you still prefer IOS38 as base for rev19 in Wiiflow?

I'm currently doing cIOS r19b38 in the 249 slot and cIOS r20b56 in the 250 slot. Achieved it by using bluedump to save my r19 249 as a wad, running the r20 installer, and then re-installing the 249 wad. So far seems to be working, I only ran one game since then, though. If a coder wants to chime in that'd be awesome. :-) Course, this negates the benefits of launching DVD games using the effects of b56, but that's good enough for me.

But there should be some hope, I have an NTSC Wii running the PAL release of the game.

Huh? That sounds like a difficult method. Specially since r20 allows you to select the installation slot. So just install r19 first, followed by r20.

@petspeed: I think my preferred base has been shifted to 56 for r20, and 57 for r19.

Hehe, looks like it all depends what works best for you i guess.
My setup:

222, hermes v5.1, base 38
223, hermes v5.1, base 37
224, hermes v5.1, base 57
249, waninkoko rev19, base 38
250, waninkoko rev20b, base 56

but i have to say, i really only use 249 and 250 for games that dont start with 249.

I disagree. I think base 56 works for all the games that work with 38. In your case, you wouldn't have to switch to 250 if you had base 56 installed into 249.

Thanks for all your replies.

As I understand from other threads here on GBATEMP r20b base 56 works fast and is compatible with most games so it is recommended. But Wiiflow works best with r19. So I thought about installing the following cIOS:

249 - r19 base 38 or 57
250 - r20b base 56

Is it possible to configure Wiiflow to use IOS249 for itself and use IOS250 as default for games? That way you would have the optimal cIOS for both Wiiflow and the games without changing IOS for all games.

No, if you want to use a different IOS for your games you have to set the IOS per game in WiiFlow.

@r-win, i'm not disagreeing with you, but the fact is that the Wiiflow coverflow runs smoother with cIOSx rev19, and i prefer that over the compatibility of cIOSx rev20b base 56 with games, and the games i have that need it are not that many.

Yes. You are right if it comes to coverflow.

I know this won't be a solution if you want to keep the ? in ?kami, but I didn't want that since in mine it put it before the numbers, not under O alphabetically. You can create a custom_titles.ini file and tell it to use a different name, i.e. Okami. The information is in the Wiki, here. Again, I know it's a band aid and not a fix, but it is an option. Also, if you want to change the display titles of any of the other games you're on your way.

I already had the file for r19 saved as a wad since I'd done that before installing r20, so that wasn't difficult. When I installed r20, I hadn't noticed the option to select the slot, so I probably just flew by that. So, yeah, if doing that as the main install way my way would be an extra step, fo sho. Maybe the next release will be optimized for r20, and make life happy all around. ;-)

Hello bakayaroo, this has to be fixed in the themes, i know it should be fixed in the starnight theme, so you can use that theme for sure if you want the name displayed correctly.

Ok, just ran it twice successfully, for clarification, I'm using the r254-249 release of WiiFlow. First time I ran it was using cIOS r19b38 in my 249 slot, second time was using r20b56 in the 250 slot. I believe every single setting is the stock default setting, actually.

WiiFlow Settings:
Default video mode - Default
Default game language - Default
Error 002 fix - On
Ocarina - Off

Game Settings:
Language - Default
DOL - main.dol
Ocarina - Default
Patch country strings - Off
Error 002 fix - Default
Vipatch - Off
Block IOS reload - Off
Patch video modes - None
Video mode - Default
Hook Type - VBI
Disable DVD Patch - Default
Disable Return To - Default
Debugger - Default

Perhaps you have a bad dump? Not sure. Sorry I couldn't give a more definitive answer than that.

On a different note - Game settings, pages 1 and 4 have settings with multiple words and all words are capitalized. Pages 2 and 3 have only the first word of each setting capitalized, and page 5 only has 1 setting of 1 word, so n/a. Not sure how much you care, just thought I'd point that out since I'm already typing away in a post.

Also, I was wondering... is there game speed differences between cIOS r19b38 and r20b56? Is that affected by which cIOS is loaded, or are they only used in the actual loading of the game and once it's going, the speed is based on the HDD?

No, if you want to use a different IOS for your games you have to set the IOS per game in WiiFlow.

Then I would like to suggest that as a future feature

Thanks for all your work, I really like Wiiflow and I am amazed at all the work you put into it. Looking forward to the official release of 2.2.

A few revisions ago they decided to re-assign those buttons, don't recall for what since I don't use them. I also liked the feature, but as far as I know, it is not coming back. To jump alphabetically, hold B and press Down for next letter or Up for previous letter. Hold B and right or left will jump a bunch.

I can't find the wiiflow.ini anywhere on my SDcard, I've looked in /sd/wiiflow but it's not there. Where else could it be found?

I have my games on a wbfs usb drive but I keep my covers, music, etc on the SDcard. It was all working before but I have updated to the newer version of WiiFlow so I could use Wiinnertag.

check apps/wiiflow/wiiflow.ini... that's where it should be located, I believe.

Yeah that fixed it. I had 3 versions of Wiiflow installed and each folder was called Wiiflow_222, etc. Renaming the 222 file to just Wiiflow fixed it.

I had three versions installed, as I didn't know which one was better plus I was hoping that one of them would stop Monster Hunter from crashing when using the USB drive as it runs fine off disk.

Thanks for ya help
