Hacking Anyone else experiencing in-game freezes in GTA CW?

I am still getting the black screens after choosing a save slot on my cyclods. I'm running fw 1.54 it is supported by the firmware now right?

i don't have it on though.

maybe i will try turning off auto-save.
when auto-save is on, how often does it save? it is just after you complete a mission, right?

in summary, i have had a total of three freezes. the game froze twice in the first 20 minutes of gameplay and a third time over an hour into the game. all three times i was driving and all three times it was during a mission (if the sequence when you first get out of the water and into a car is a mission). i have played a few more times, totaling over an hour, since the last freeze and i have not experienced another freeze. yet...

If RTS works with GTA, you could always do a RTS every so often and then restore if it locks up.

I've had the game freeze on me about five times so far.

I save my game after every drug deal & I have it on autosave as well due to this problem.

I'm hoping another update will fix the problem, because I'm not buying another 8GB sd card.

I tried 2 different SD cards and had the same problem. Tried different both different save options (Normal,Alternative) Froze both times.

This froze like over 5 times for me too. Completely random times, the only similarity is that they always freeze during gameplay, not during a cutscene or when I'm in a house, or dealing drugs.

I don't think this is a problem with the Cyclo though, because people with retail cartridges are reporting repeated freezing too. Of course, this doesn't really surprise me, the GBA Grand Theft Auto froze like crap too, so Rockstar's record isn't exactly clean.

Edit: Scratch that, I think it could be a problem with the Cyclo's firmware. Now that there's a bypass cheat, I'm gonna downgrade the firmware back to 1.51 (the last stable one in my opinion) and report my findings.

I got past the first cutscene, then after the guy gets shot and it cuts to a car on the street (driving I assume) it froze, the music kept playing.. I assumed I needed to patch the game or something despite the 1.54 changelog stating it works.

My card is a 2GB Kingston Japan.. and I've never had a problem with any other game before (and the card was formatted 2-3 months ago).

I did trim my rom with ndstokyotrim, maybe this is a factor? Who else trimmed?

do you remeber the freeze problem with castlevania portrait of ruin? the game freezes randomly in cause of a bad micro sdhc card. but its nothing about class 4 or 6 its about the random access time which have to be under 0,9 ms i think. you can test the card with the pc freeware hd tach.

edit:
in the cyclo ds fprum is a thread about this problem. they said you should buy a card from toshiba manufactured in japan. sorry but i don't find the thread now.

hmm.. i have a transcend 8gb sdhc class 6, and hd tach puts me at 1.0 ms random access time... I've only experienced one lockup in the 5 hours i played it, and none after i turned off battery saver, but that my have nothing to do with it at all. It would be nice if someone with a card under 9.0 ms could verify if they are freezing or not.

edit: it may also be worth noting that i rarely play for more than 15-20 minutes at a time.

Been playing it a bit and have only had it freeze on me once. No biggie, just restarted and it was fine (didn't repeat the freeze at the same point.) GTA would occasionally freeze on me on the Xbox, just leads me to save often so, in a sense, the freezing could be considered a good reminder.

i think its more of a rockstar issue then it is a card issue as ive never had it freeze on any other game and im running an A-DATA 8GB class 6

Also, Ive found out that only AFTER updating to 1.54 FINAL it started to freeze. Not too often, but still does. Before updating, at 1.54Beta it never froze. Pure coincedence, maybe

To be fair, they are basically the same card (of course EDGE lacks many functions, but the basic loading code etc is all the same).

I haven't had any problems on my G6 Real, however I've only played for a few hours.

I confirm that, my GTA:CW never freezes/locks up, and HDTach reports my Random Access Time as 0.7ms.
