Gaming returning an unhackable PSP?

If you need an excuse, use the one my friend used. Say that the PSP you bought must be faulty because it couldn't run the Action Replay PSP. The Action Replay PSP uses a pandora battery to run the Action Replay loader on the PSP.

I've tried Rains MMS and Pandora Deluxe, they both failed to work for me. At least, the memory card created was not responsive. Also, I realize I won't be able to use my desktop with XP because it doesn't have a SD card slot, nor do I have the USB cable (it's coming in the mail) yet.

If it successfully loads, what am I supposed to see? All I get is the black screen with the power liht on, but no "crazy flashy" lights for the MMS.

you can also use a usb cable from a digital camera .. one that has a MINI usb plug on one end and a normal USB to connect to the computer on the other .. maby see if you can borrow one

you should see a DOS like menu come up if done right with an option to install m33 firmware ...using the method I mentioned you also need to hold LEFT on the 4 way thumb pad (not the analogue stick) when putting the PANDORA battery in and keep it held (you will need to put the battery in without putting the back of the battery compartment back on just hold it in and keep LEFT held on the pad until the DOS menu thing shows up

and for the record PSP uses a PRO DUO slot not an SD slot to connect you would need an adapter!

as above ..try borrow a cable from a friend who has the same cable for a digital camera, its also the same data cable as used for old style motorola phones

I already know about the adapter. I have 3 of them as of now, and as I stated before, I do not have a USB cable for the PSP so obviously, I'm using the adapter. I KNOW the PSP uses a Pro Duo slot. The SD card can't even fit in the PSP. Come on now, I'm not an idiot. Like I said, my main problem is that Vista will not allow me to inject the IPL.

i'm either going to wait till my USB cable comes (I ordered it online) or one of my friends who works at Gamestop said he will bring his MMS and Pandora to work one day and I could just drop by and he would flash it for me. but I would still like to have an MMS of my own.

Thanks for everyone's help. I'm really frustrated at this point and I think I've had a lot of bad luck. Is there any chance that the God of War editions could have the new motherboard but still have older firmware? I'm hoping this is not the case and that its just the Vista problem, but its still annoying.

Until then, I can only stare at my PSP and smack myself.

My desktop computer, which has XP installed, does NOT have a SD card slot, therefore, I would not be able to make my MMS on it, because I need the SD adapter slot for the Pro Duo memory stick. I can't stick my pro duo card directly into my computer. I also don't have a USB cable for the PSP yet.

I don't remember the last time so many people have all tried to help one person get CFW installed. It's quite impressive, even the times when people seem to misunderstand the information given. It also helps that you've actually done your own research, rather than come to us with "long arms".

From what I've heard (and what's already been reported here) the PSPs with the v3 (unhackable) motherboard are mostly the Piano Black PSPs due to how quickly they fly off the shelves. The special edition PSPs (like your GoW edition PSP) are all older than the v3, and don't sell quite so quickly, so it's likely to have an older motherboard. I also heard that v3s only ship with OFW 4.01. I might be wrong, but that's what I hear. In other words, your PSP should definitely be hackable, as soon as you can make that MMS.

Something you might want to think of getting is one of those USB card readers for your desktop. They're cheap, although when you get the USB cable, it might not even be needed - you can just do it straight through the PSP.

If you had a friend who had CFW, then the entire process would be quicker and easier. I followed this guide (http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=3780) and fixed my bricked PSP in about 5 minutes by going through the steps (using my second PSP). Unfortunately, if you're the only one who has a PSP (or others don't have CFW) then it won't help - the MMS from this guide is made on the PSP via a homebrew app.

Agreed, they seem to always work much better than my USB cable.

Um, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that homebrew? I don't think she'll be able to use it until she gets CFW, and even by then, she'll have no need for it.

Argh, I can't stand this anymore. I am going to Fry's today and pickin myself up a USB cord. If I have the USB cord for PSP, then the Vista thing won't matter as much right? Because right now, using the SD card adapter/reader, it's failing really bad. Now, if THIS doesn't work, I'm SOL and I'm going to cry.

Also, cinnamon, it is VERY likely you will receive a PSP with an unhackable motherboard if you get Piano Black. I got mine a few days ago that came with OFW 4.01 and had to return it. If you do this, try buying from Wal-mart, because they will refund almost anything. If you wanna be on the safe side, I would recommend buying the God of War bundle of Daxter.

If you ask for the one at the very back, it kinda becomes obvious that you're going to try putting CFW on it. It's almost like buying a gun with lots of bullets because you know you want to kill someone, only not so extreme. They're also likely to say "screw you" and just give you the one at the top of the pile just because it's a bother to move everything else out of the way.

If they know you've been trying (and failing) to put CFW on it, then they have the right to refuse refund/replacement. But of course, you wouldn't be trying anything illegal now, would you?

So I got the USB cable and now the IPL injection seems to be working when it tries to format the memory stick through the PSP. however, I still can't get Pandora to boot! What the hell is wrong with it? I really dont know what else to do. So annoying! Just a black screen... doesn't even look like the screen turns on. No memory stick light either, just the green power light is on.

EDIT: Scratch that! 5 seconds after I entered this message, I booted up my PSP and to my surprise, the screen finally came up!! YESSS!!! YESSS!!

YESS!!!

I'm so happy now! ABOUT F!@#$ING TIME, that is all I can say!! I used Rains Ultra Lite MMS.
