Hacking NTSC?

Er... both JPN and US Wii consoles can run US/JP Games (they use NTSC 480i/480p). Just without unlocking the protection, only a US Wii for example can only play US Wii games.

Oh cool, an old Wii. ^^ Did you buy it used?
In that case, get a FreeClip and program it with YAOSM. Best chip you can get for those Wiis. ^^

Just saw that wiidrives doesn't have exactly many entrys regarding ljf serials. Maybe you should open up the Wii to be sure what drive controller is inside before ordering a modchip.

Wii drives have different drive-controllers: D2A, DMS, D2B, D2C, D2C2, D2E. You can guess from the serial number which controller it is, but to know for sure you have to open up the Wii and look what's written on the drive controller chip.
There are older and cheaper chips (that are just as good as the new ones) that only work on D2A/DMS/D2B drives, like YAOSM. (the chip-code you can flash on the Free Clip and yeah it's really good)

Thanks. How can I tell the drive controller chip when I see it?

So is this how I do it?

1. Open up Wii
2. Get a modchip in
3. Get the TP hack on
4. Run the Region Changer

Does this fix the Japan power thing?

Also can someone rehost the YAOSM files for me? I can't find them anywhere. And can someone rehost this and this?

It's the chip where all the modchips are installed on. Just look at an install diagram to find it.

I would do it this way:

1. Open up your Wii
2. Look what drivecontroller you have and get a corresponding modchip
3. set the region of your chip to japanese (however the modchip does it, YAOSM for example does it by inserting a japanese game)
4. install the twilight hack and the homebrew channel
5. Change the region of your modchip using a config disc or whatever the modchip uses to USA
6. Use Any Region changer to change the region of your Wii

Regarding the power plug. I don't know anything about the canagian elextric system, so I really don't know.

Maybe you should first get started before worrying about isos and stuff. (You can safely update with isos that are from the same region as your Wii [after the region change that will be USA] but you have to be carefull with imports.)

Do I have to use a NTSC-J TP to get the hack on? Can't I use a NTSC-U TP if the modchip has region-free gaming?

Lokk at your drivecontroller first before you get the chip, as I said allready. If you don't you might get stuck with a chip that doesn't work.
And afaik you have to use the jp-tp-hack, but I'm not a 100% sure... just get an japanese tp backup...

Yes before buying it I will look at the drivecontroller; I just want to know before hand.

Can I use this with the Free Clip? I'm just lazy to go to the back of my computer for the Serial Port (and my USB's are in the front).
