When I turn on my DSi XL, I see the health and safety screen but the screens turns black. What's the problem?

After sometime I found my Nintendo DSi XL, bought a new adapter, waited until it complety charged, when I turn on, as the title says I see the health and safety screen then the screen turns black, I was hearing something at start after sometimes it didn't pop any sound.

What can it be??? Help wanted

Maybe your battery needs replaced if is that old, and you didn't keep partially charged at least, for a long time, will kill the battery life.
