Here is a simple method to install large PKG files (> 4 GB) directly from an external NTFS drive without copying them to the PS3's internal HDD first:
- Launch IRIS Manager.
- Open the File Manager (Press Start > Tools > File manager), navigate to your external NTFS drive, and highlight your PKG file.
- Press Triangle to open the menu and select Mount + exit to XMB.
- Return to the PS3 XMB menu: your PKG file will now be visible, and you can install it as normal under the Package Manager.
