Seeing California red is just crazy.

It's sad though. It's taken an illegal war, inflation, corruption we've never seen before in our lives, and the threatening of allies while cozying up to historical enemies to get to this point. Where the senate MIGHT switch. In any normal society, it would be a give-in that the people would revolt against the people in charge. But the cult hubris is so thick that they can't admit they made a horrible mistake.
The senate is:

1. Naturally favorable to republicans because a state like Wyoming and California both have equal representation (and the Rs have a lot of loyal rural states)

2. Split into 3 classes, only one of which is up for election in any given cycle. This election is class 2, which is the most favorable for Republicans of any class.

So while the Democrats are way ahead, it's still unclear if they will take back the Senate due to the favorable environment for Republicans.

An interesting result of this though is,

The next Senate elections in 28 and 30 will be more balanced

So we might even see Dems hold the Senate until 2032 if they win here
I knew that the senate races didn't happen all at the same time, but I didn't realize they were on a three set cycle like that.

The rural farmer states really should be the one's pushing back against Trump and his policies. Everything he's done has hurt them:
- They've cracked down on their immigrant workers.
- They've immensely increased diesel prices which all their equipment use.
- The tariffs have increased all farming necessities (Machines, Fertilizer, pesticides, etc).
- Retaliatory tariffs have hugely hurt their export sales.
- They've allowed beef farmers to be affected by parasites while bringing beef from Argentina.
- They've screwed over soybean farmers immensely while subsidizing Argentinian farmers.
- They screwed up so horribly that the government is bailing them out with about $12 billion.

At a certain point, they need to realize that they're getting screwed completely.

He's doubling down now. If you vote for the Democrats, you get a 1929 depression, but if you vote Republican, you get $5,000!
Pretty simple choice, right?

At this point, even if the Democrats take the house and senate, the damage is pretty wide-spread. A depression is coming no matter who's in power. It's going to suck too, because shit will go south, and Trump will say it was because the people didn't give him more time. All blame, zero acceptance of responsibility no matter if the GOP wins or loses.

I... Can't believe he actually said that. In a way I shouldn't be surprised with this guy, but... I am nonetheless. He flag out said that losing a few cities is a small price to pay for his stupid oil feud with Iran.

I know this thread is about the midterms, but let me tell you this... If our prime minister, king, or whomever, talks about military defence in terms of "we can afford to lose a few cities for my egomaniac disputes with enemies", i wouldn't be all like "well... I think I'll vote for another party ft election". I'd be joining our even organizing national strikes, and making sure that we'd rather recede our province from Belgium rather than continue having this mad man be in charge of us somehow.

Note that I'm more pointing fingers at independents and democrats here. Republicans are despicable, but at least they get what they want (i guess). But the people who didn't vote for him are in the majority, and they should seriously consider kicking him out the hard way. Not that "we'll hold a protest on our day off" or "I'll vote in a few months" but actual riots. I'm not a fan of the protests in France at the moment, but they've put more pressure on the government than all those no kings meetings combined. And don't get me started on Spain...
(admitted: I'm not too knowledged on them yet)

Last edited by Taleweaver,
And the idiots who voted for him believe it. I have huge doubts that Democrats will be able to win.
I don't think it will be valid votes that would make the Republicans win. A lot of people, including Republicans, are finding their current situation getting worse with each day. You still have those loyalists that will always vote for Trump, but many are finding out the hard way of what's happening to them, so the number of loyalists is slowly dropping. Much of what allowed Trump to win this last time (if not from possible acts by Musk) was from a lot of people simply not voting. They are also experiencing what it is like to be under modern Republican rule with higher prices and such, so I would imagine that numbers of those people able to vote will increase.

Trump had claimed that mail-in voting was riddled in fraud....... after he himself voted that way. He attempted to try and put a stop to that kind of voting, but not has that been failing, but he's now trying to get Republicans to vote, including by that manner. They are getting desperate.

This whole situation about Trump "suggesting" that Iran should bomb California sounds like it's not what Iran would do, but what Trump would do and using the blame game to take more control.

Yeah, that isn't so unbelievable to see anymore. We're all numb to him having his ego butt-hurt by other states and him retaliating any way he can.

Him saying something dumb like this is pretty tame for someone who actively denies funding to states who don't support him. It's just another example of "Imagine if Obama did this." The right would have marched on the capital, but in this instance they just cheered like little sheep. Absolute hypocrisy cringe-fest.
