Wind Waker static recompilation makes its way to PC

Are you tired of waiting for Nintendo to release a definitive version of their GameCube classic on a console that's sold more than four units? Then step right up! A fork of BlueWake, a static recompilation previously targetting iOS, the creatively titled Wind Waker Recomp has just launched on Windows and Mac with a swath of new features.

Those wanting to jump in can expect to play with smooth motion, wide-screen support, high resolution rendering, and support for HD texture packs. On top of this, experimental support for 60Hz game logic is available, though not currently recommended in its current state.

For those interested, the below AI disclosure is included in the project readme file:

AI Disclosure said:
Wind Waker Recomp is developed with substantial AI assistance for code, testing, documentation and debugging. The status log records what has actually been checked, and on what.

As is common with these releases, no game data is provided in the project repo, with a legally obtained copy of the US GameCube game required to play. You can find the project's GitHub repo linked below.

As always - AI usage notes in the news post are very appreciated
I guess for recomps there isn't much room for error, if it is supposed to be like for like to the original, just compiled for a different platform (and presumably fused with some kind of GPU/audio emulator). To my understanding, that kind of process is something that would be best if it was fully automated, as there is only one solution, so I guess slop isn't so bad in this case (sans training/energy use/etc. concerns)?

It is very much possible I'm misunderstanding how these work, so I'd love to be corrected if so.

But yeah, I do agree, it is good to see AI disclosure in the original post.

Rather just wait for the Windwaker decomp to be done and then polished up to see a true source port
It’s closing in on 80% complete with rapid but not eyebrow raising progress
Been checking in on it all year

Yeah, better to wait for an actual release made by talented humans. It's so sad to see how many people with little to no knowledge in coding are rushing out these "recomps" at an alarming rate

Think what you will about AI, but who the hell are you to berate the editor of a news website for reporting on the news?
Because they're promoting AI-made slop to the front page which hurts the scene and hurts the people making actual human made decomps. You're damn right I got something to say about that.

Yeah I'm with you on this one.

For one, GBATemp used to be a place for actual scene work, not regurgitating an error cycle to an AI on performance critical code.

Reverse engineering this kind of thing takes time, and isn't the place for AI; All it does it take away from actual contributors who know what they're doing.
